Summer Breeze: Additions to line-up

The line-up of Summer Breeze 2016 is getting more and more complete with these new additions:

BATUSHKA

And suddenly there was BATUSHKA, a band from Poland playing orthodox doom and black metal. Late last year, their first album “Litourgiya” was released – their first cryptic statement. And it's downright scary how overwhelming said statement is. This is top-notch songwriting full of surprising variety, and not only concerning the vocals. It is also the precise interplay of the instruments, party as a hypnotic drone, partly as driving blastbeat attacks, that lead towards soundscapes never experienced before. With all these superlatives there are also many questions, though: Who is behind this band? It seems like this is an icon in the making, a (still) faceless icon. The secret of how “Litourgiya” will be presented live will be aired next August in Dinkelsbühl at SUMMER BREEZE Open Air. This will be exciting and huge – BATUSHKA will take you on a blasphemous trip that will make the band candidates for an early sainthood.

BÖMBERS

The closing act on Wednesday evening is totally in the spirit of rock'n'roll: We want to honour the legend that is Motörhead and their recently deceased frontman Lemmy Kilmister with this show by Norway's BÖMBERS, where the two cult black metallers Abbath (ex-Immortal) and Tore Bratseth (ex-Old Funeral) live out their love for Lemmy & Co.

Formed in 1996, the three boyhood friends Killminister (Abbath), Fast Tore (Tore) and Party Animal (drummer Pez, ex-Punishment Park) have already played well over 1oo shows with the sole purpose to pay a respectful tribute to their favourite band, Motörhead. And that's exactly what the BÖMBERS show on Wednesday night at SUMMER BREEZE is intended to be: an homage to the life and work of Lemmy and Motörhead, who unfortunately didn't make it to Dinkelsbühl. We are happy we managed to book the most popular Motörhead tribute band, because this is going to be a huge party! A party in the honour of Motörhead, Lemmy and rock'n'roll! So take this chance to finish the first festival night with a giant party and don't miss this rare BÖMBERS show outside of Norway.

GOITZSCHE FRONT

Deutschrock bands are enjoying a better response in Dinkelsbühl every year, which is why we want to present you another treat from this genre with GOITZSCHE FRONT.

From the bars to the charts, that's how you could describe the band's history so far, as their current album “Mo[nu]ment” entered the German charts on a sensational 16th position. But it doesn't surprise, because their punky Deutschrock tunes are extremely catchy and you can immediately sing along to them, which is why GOITZSCHE FRONT should have a massive backup choir at SUMMER BREEZE!

EMMURE

EMMURE are coming to SUMMER BREEZE 2016. Band leader Frankie Palmieri will introduce an entirely new line-up in Dinkelsbühl. Freshly reformed and strengthened, the New York band will pound Dinkelsbühl with the biggest hammer Central Franconia has ever experienced.

Deathcore fanatics with a weak spot for masive grooves are EMMURE's target group. Their mix of hardcore, death metal and electronic elements is absolutely unique. So the quake on stage will surely be translated to the masses in front of it. This will be intense, really intense!

ABBATH

ABBATH send ice-cold blizzards ahead of them. Hailing from Bergen, the virtual capital of Norwegian black metal, the band can confidently be considered more than just the return of bandleader Abbath. The ex Immortal frontman gathered the best musicians to make his vision come to life. And this vision is the real thing, though it is obviously reminiscent of Olve Eikemo's (aka Abbath Doom Occulta) musical past, but it is also a breath of fresh air and good for a few surprises. The opening track on the album, which was released at the beginning of 2016, is titled “To War” and makes it clear from the start that no prisoners will be taken. Armed with probably the most recognisable corpsepaint, elaborate riffs that make the songs become real anthems, and a devilish grin, Abbath will pay an unforgettable visit to SUMMER BREEZE with his band ABBATH.

AIRBOURNE

Wow! AIRBOURNE will take to the stage in Dinkelsbühl in August. Singer/guitarist Joel O'Keeffe and his band are living the dream that made him learn how to play AC/DC and Rose Tattoo songs in his bedroom at the tender age of eleven. The dream – to tour with a hard rock band worldwide and play to crazy fans on all continents – became reality in the band's thirteen-year history.

The sheer excitement that the Australians cause can be seen, for example, on the German fan page: “AIROBOURNE are the walking, talking, living, breathing, screaming, spitting embodiment of all that has made up hard rock since its inception. Fun-having, hard-partying, and filled with melodic danger as well as grinning optimism, AIRBOURNE forge underdog anthems with a nearly reckless dedication.” There's not really much more to add to that.
