Summer Breeze: Two cancellations and more new names
Unfortunately there have been two cancellation: SIKTH have cancelled their appearance at SUMMER BREEZE 2016. The good news: The band will play next year!
NILE have also cancelled their appearance.
Luckily there are also quite a few new names added to the line-up:
GOROD
Hailing from Bordeaux, GOROD are bringing technical, progressive death metal to SUMMER BREEZE Open Air. Since 2005 the Frenchmen have released five albums, moving little by little into the premier league of their genre. Among scene insiders the name GOROD has been held in high esteem since the beginning of their career. In Dinkelsbühl you will have the chance to be convinced by their blast beats, ultra precise guitars and melodiesthat were written for eternity. GOROD are the real deal, don't miss them!
GYZE
With GYZE we can announce a welcome rarity at SUMMER BREEZE Open Air. If you would like to add a highly melodic rollercoaster ride made in Japan to your death metal log book, you don't want to miss the Dinkelsbühl appearance by this trio from Sapporo.
Their level of musicianship and songwriting is world class, the pendulum between melodic death and power metal swings back and forth forcing you to move your skulls in a circle. Safe for very feew exceptions, GYZE really put the pedal to the metal. On their two albums, “Black Bride” and “Fascinating Violence”, the Japanese have so many hits that their live set at SUMMER BREEZE has become a mandatory appointment, and not only for fans of melodic death metal.
TRAITOR
Sharp as damascus steel are the riffs of the newly confirmed thrash metal band from Southern Germany: TRAITOR.
The Swabians have caused quite a stir in the press with their new album “Venomizer”, and they have been playing live far beyond the confines of their native Balingen.
Musically speaking, the quartet delivers everything that defines great old-school thrash metal, meaning riffs, shredding solos and never-ending energy. Their style has definitely got an old-school touch, yet it never sounds dated, which means fans of bands such as Warbringer and Assassin will get their money's worth. Support the underground, support TRAITOR!
CONAN
These are very good times for original bands, which is something that also benefits you, because that way we are able to offer you some unusual surprises every once in a while. In this case we are talking about CONAN, who have been active since 2007.
Named after one of the best films of all time, this noise/doom dream team roars through aggressive riffs, massive downtuned guitars, cranking distortion and crazy vocals in a totally original manner – intense and gripping. In doing so, the Liverpudlians create such an incredibly powerful sound wave live that it is hard to stay standing. Just as Conan in the movie, this slo-mo metalheads destroy everything in their path with their humongous riffs. Good job that CONAN have loads of new material on hand on their new album “Revengeance”, the live premiere of which we will be able experience in Dinkelsbühl. If you don't just listen to music, but want to feel it on your whole body, you should face CONAN's downtuned riff massacre at SUMMER BREEZE 2016 and see what intensity really means.
GRAILKNIGHTS
Alright, get those vocal cords lubricated, 'cause you will need them: In August the battle choir shall resound all over Dinkelsbühl! The GRAILKNIGHTS are back!
You know what it means when Sir Optimus Prime and his pack arrive at SUMMER BREEZE: Party, party, party! With their melodic heavy death metal brew they have taken over every crowd so far, the same in Dinkelsbühl. With a new EP under their belts and super rehearsed from their tour with Van Canto, they will make the earth quake at SUMMER BREEZE. But the guys obviously count ion you, because what would be a GRALKNIGHTS show without crowd interaction?! So get ready to chant along, because the GRAILKNIGHTS will definitely demand your presence.
BOMBUS
It's virtually impossible to describe the next band's style with just one word, because Sweden's BOMBUS seem to be caught up between many different stools...
And that's really cool, because there's only so many bands who can boast a certain degree of originality nowadays. BOMBUS' sound is located somewhere in the universe of metal, hard rock, rock'n'roll, sludge and stoner – but, despite this wide-ranging circumscription of their style, they kick a might ass. To some, their attitude and modus operandi will even be reminiscent of Kvelertak, but BOMBUS reach far wider with their musical bag of tricks. In fact, their new album “Repeat Until Death” again contains numerous hits that will make you dance, headbang and sing along. So definitely check out this cool combo at SUMMER BREEZE 2016, because live they even step it up a notch.
QUEENSRŸCHE
The following band confirmation may surprise many of you: Power prog band QUEENSRYCHE are coming to play SUMMER BREEZE Open Air for the very first time!
Active since the eighties, QUEENSRŸCHE belong to the forerunners of this style of music and landed a worldwide hit with their concept album “Operation: Mindcrime”. Fortunately, the band have left behind the lack of direction that plagued them during the 00s, as their last two albums “Queensrÿche” and “Condition Hüman” seamlessly connected with their old days of glory. With Todd LaTorre the only true QUEENSRŸCHE have a singer in their ranks who can effortlessly reproduce the old classics.
