Superlove Releases New Album "follow:noise" Out Now via Rude Records / New Music Video “Overdrive” Out Now

Bristolian noise-pop three-piece Superlove has today shared their highly anticipated new album follow:noise out now via European label Rude Records. The ten song collection features previous singles “GO!”, “Something Good,” and “Easier.” Fans can stream follow:noise in full for the first time at https://music.ruderecords.com/follownoise.

On the new album, Superlove shares, "We’ve realised a lot over the last year since the release of our debut album. We discovered what we wanted to lean our sound more towards and to really focus in on the basic elements and fully utilise every instrument."

Alongside the new album, Superlove has shared a music video for the track “Overdrive.” On the track, lead vocalist and bassist Jacob Rice shares, “‘Overdrive’ is about how with our generation; everything has to be 100%. You go on Tik Tok and everything's in your face all the time, and every time you’re on your phone you can’t avoid it. We are living with no plan of action, and our generation is going through it right now. Will I be able to ever buy a house? Will I be able to ever do the things that the older generations have done? The older generations had this plan for life, where you would get married, say your vows, buy a house, and have kids, but now everything’s so expensive. Our generation has had to loosen up a bit. If I get to own a house, that’s great, but if I don’t, I'll make something else work.”

Unveiling the vibrant hues of their distinctive brand of noise-pop on 2022 debut album ‘Colours’, Superlove are a band focused on innovation

Marrying infectious pop hooks with brain-melting riffs and electronic influences, the Bristol trio’s first full-length release ventured into countless musical territories, transcending boundaries, and sitting outside of all boxes. Inspired by the dynamic genre-blurring tendencies of Enter Shikari and the driving rock energy of Lower Than Atlantis, since their formation in 2018 Superlove have been working feverishly towards something big, and in the summer of 2022 - they had an epiphany.

“When we played 2000 Trees last year, we played ‘Save Yourselves’ last which is a huge guitar song,” vocalist / bassist Jacob Rice explains. “We realised that the people who come to our shows want to hear riffs and big choruses. There are people who appreciate the electronic stuff that we did on ‘Colours’, and it’s cool to have that up our sleeve, but what’s more fun than a big bouncy riff? Looking out and seeing a mosh pit with people jumping around, it felt right.”

With drummer Tom Hennessey joining the band’s ranks and bringing with him a practice space in Bristol, Jacob and guitarist Jon Worgan contemplated how to utilise guitars more efficiently in their sound. Stripping things back to just three guys and their instruments, by the end of the summer they had written two new songs - ‘GO!’ and ‘Something Good’ – forming the basis of ‘follow:noise’, a rock album like no other. “This is where we belong. We want to solidify ourselves within this genre because these are the bands that we love,” Jacob nods. “We all listen to this music, so we're not sell-outs jumping on a trend. At the stage Superlove is at, it’s time to find our place, and the rock scene is it.” Rock music rock music has always been the North Star of Superlove – Jon’s musical awakening happening at a Slipknot show, and Tom fascinated by bands like Holding Absence - and now it’s burning brighter than ever.

Recorded alongside producer Tom Cory over two weeks in a huge Kent farmhouse equipped with a Scalextric track upstairs, the trio worked with little pressure bearing down on them. With Jon stepping away from his co-vocalist role to focus on his guitar playing, Jacob co-wrote with the producer to arrive at the band’s most defining set of songs to date. From cuts like ‘Lifeline’ written entirely on an acoustic guitar, to ‘Gut Feeling’ featuring no synths for the first time in the band’s history, to ‘Easier’ and ‘Seasons’ which the vocalist first started working on almost four years ago, each piece slots together perfectly to form Superlove’s electric new era.

Inspired by scene icons Turnstile who effortlessly rock up onstage in jeans and a t-shirt each night, letting the music speak for itself, it’s an era that comes with no gimmicks. Growing up with the carefree humour of bands like Blink-182, Superlove are looking to bring a simple fun-first spirit back to rock music, with the video for album single ‘Easier’ seeing them follow in the footsteps of their heroes.

“In the ‘All the Small Things’ video Blink-182 were making fun of boy bands, and we wanted to do something similar,” Jacob smiles. “We imagined ourselves flicking through the music channels back in the day and seeing ourselves as a hair metal band, a folk band, and a band like the Beastie Boys. We're always laughing, so it wouldn't make sense to go do a serious video. Nowadays you see a snippet of a music video on TikTok and think you’ve seen it all, but I want people to go back on YouTube repeatedly to laugh at this and show their friends how dumb it is.”

Rooted in sheer fun and authenticity, Superlove are catapulting into a new era of boundless creative joy, kickstarting with a headline tour this summer. Playing their songs in sweaty venues to roomfuls of people singing and moshing along, the trio have found their place – and now they’re ready to make it their own.

“On our last headline tour in summer 2022, we didn't get to play the big cities like Manchester and Liverpool. We’re so excited because we haven't played in some of those places since before the pandemic,” Jacob says.

“I hope this tour leads to more for us, because we’re dying to get out there and do it. We’re going in with no expectations because the fun of touring comes from being together and having a laugh. Everything else is a bonus, and that's how it should be.”
