Swiss duo release 'Maryam' + summery remix ahead of Meltdown 2018 appearance
Ahead of their Meltdown Festival 2018 appearance, Swiss duo MARTINEZ are delighted to release two tracks in the UK - 'Maryam', plus an exclusive Summery remix of 'Maryam' by Chapelle. Listen to 'Maryam' HERE // 'Maryam' (Chapelle Remix) HERE
Invited by The Cure's very own Robert Smith, the pair will perform at London's Meltdown Festival at 2.00PM on Sunday 24th June.
Their first self-produced single, 'Maryam', evokes the difficulties everyone can experience in a society that constantly assigns us with roles perhaps not of our own choosing. The supporting video, beautifully depicting a little girl living in an adult world has struck a chord with many. Already a runaway success in on the continent, the single 'Maryam' has stacked up over 200k streams on Spotify since its initial release.
'Maryam' is released in the UK with an exclusive remix by Stéphane Chapelle (AKA Chapelle). The French producer and recording & mixing engineer, who is now also based in Switzerland, has put his magic touch to records by the likes of MIA, Mount Kimble, Deltron 3030 and more, and here gives the 'Maryam' single a slinky, summer re-working ripe for the festival season. Watch the video here.
Formed in 2015 the Swiss duo Martinez was a surprising addition to the careers of singer songwriter Valerie Martinez and drummer/producer Yvan Bing. Coming from distinctive yet different musical worlds - Neo-Soul for Valérie and Indie Rock for Yvan - they found common ground in unique sound of their Martinez project. Tinged with nostalgia but nevertheless joy, the music of Martinez expresses a hope to relive a past of carelessness.
