Talk Show Release New Single ‘Closer’ via Missing Piece Records

Closer’ is the new single from Talk Show and the first taste of their highly anticipated debut album, due for release in 2024. Produced by Remi Kabaka (Gorillaz), the single provides a thrilling taste of what is to come from the album. The track’s intense, compelling energy provides the perfect showcase for the band’s continuing creative evolution. Drawing on everything from The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy to Nine Inch Nails and The KLF, the band leans into the raw, primal sound at the intersection of techno, electronic, industrial, and rock music that informed their 2022 EP "Touch The Ground".

‘Closer’, which arrives with a video directed by Ashley Rommelrath, grew from visual queues, specifically a club/warehouse space imagined by the band, influenced by the night club in Blade and the Happy Mondays’ video for. ‘Rope For Luck’. Asking themselves “If we were playing in that club, what would we play, how would we play?” Talk Show built the track around question and answer phrases between the guitars and vocals, with tight drumming driving the momentum. The result is a ferocious, vital track, the sonic equivalent of punching a hole in the wall, punctuated with moments of pure euphoria.

Speaking about the making of ‘Closer’, frontman Harrison Swann says: “Utilizing the repetition on Closer allowed me to build a rhythm and raise the stakes and put new meaning into the line each time. Working with Remi really helped me harness how much nuance I could put into my phrasing, how much more powerful it could be to whisper than to shout. We wanted to take you from standing outside in the freezing cold straight into the heart of the sweatbox”.

To date, Talk Show have been championed by BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, The Guardian, NME, Crack, The Independent, DIY, Dork, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, Rolling Stone UK and Wonderland, to name a few. Their intense live shows and ever evolving output have firmly marked them out as one of the most exciting young bands in the UK.

Talk Show have been spent the last couple of years touring across Europe, building an ever growing fanbase, playing festivals such as Rolling Stone Beach, Best Kept Secret, London Calling, The Great Escape, and Pitchfork Paris among many others, and touring with the likes of Fontaines D.C., Squid, Shame, Sports Team , Bob Vylan, and Fat White Family.

Talk Show are Harrison Swann (vox, guitar), George Sullivan (bass), Tom Holmes (guitar) and Chloe McGregor (drums).
