Témé Tan releases his latest track, ‘Sè Zwa Zo’, and unveils the video

Témé Tan, the musical alias of multi-instrumentalist and producer Tanguy Haesevoets, has unveiled the video to his latest track, Sè Zwa Zo. This follows his debut track for [PIAS] Recordings, Ça Va Pas La Tête? Talking about the track, and also the self-directed video, which were both recorded and shot in the Canary Islands, Témé Tan said:

During the last week of December, I was invited to celebrate New Year's Eve in the Canary Islands. A very good friend of mine had booked a villa for her whole family and she had saved a bed for me. Due to sad circumstances, I eventually found myself there alone for the entire week.

With my teammate Noza, we had produced a track. A sort of mixture of likembe (Congolese thumb piano) with a G-Funk bass line. I had brought it on my computer and now had plenty of time to develop it.

Each morning I was awoken by the songs of birds. This is where "Sè Zwa Zo" got its title from: "Those Birds". I wrote about how we keep a piece of our lover after we end the relationship and how they are still very much part of who we are. "Je te garderai, en moi". I will keep you inside me...

Once the song was finished, I began to daydream facing the horizon. The colours were so beautiful. I wanted to find a way to share it with my friend who had not been able to come. My only tool was the webcam from my computer. As I carried it around the villa, I captured what would become the video for the song. Due to a strong blow of wind, my computer crashed to the ground when I was recording the last sequence. The screen was completely destroyed but not the camera nor the files on the hard drive. I found it a quite good mixture of good and bad luck.

Of Congolese descent and growing up between Kinshasa and Brussels, his first musical memories were the rumba records his uncles played at family reunions and the zouk tapes of his cousins. Deciding to become a musician after celebrating his 18th birthday at a Beastie Boys concert, his music is a modern blend of minimalistic grooves, electronic beats and seductive harmonies.

Drawing inspiration from his global travels and taking musical cues from his time spent in Congo, Brazil, Japan, Guinea and beyond and influenced by artists from Jai Paul and MC Solaar through to Papa Wemba and Jorge Ben, Témé Tan distilled his varied influences at home in his studio in Belgium to create music which feels truly free of classification.

Having recently played Eurosonic, he is currently playing a number of shows supporting Milky Chance across Europe. The dates are as follows:
