Témé Tan shares new live session for 'Sage', recorded at his home studio

The music industry is a 'big shop window' where artists are displayed, and the shelves are changed as new releases arrive. When you're just starting out, you have the impression that you could keep this status of novelty that everyone's snatching up. You accept a lot, you give it your all. But at some point, you lose that status. I sing that I won't be wise in the future. I won't be caught out any more because I can see more clearly what's going on in the music business. Or at least I'll try!

With Tim Wulleman and Pablo Casella, we did several writing sessions while I was slowly regaining the use of my vocal cords. It was after a lot of experimentation and jamming that 'Sage' was born. I called it 'Subway' before coming up with the lyrics, so much so that the atmosphere of the intro reminded me of the film 'The warriors', tinged with the birth of hip-hop in the New York underground in the early 80s. The drums are composed using Oberheim's legendary DX sampler. The Talking Heads sound is a comparison I'm happy to accept. Especially since David Byrne added me to one of his playlists! I've been immersed in his world ever since I read his book 'How Music Works' which I'm sure also includes the text."
