Terry Bickers & The Inner Spiral , - Announces Shows + Confirms New Music

Indie luminary and guitar legend - TERRY BICKERS - is back with new music, a new band and some intimate live shows in 2025. Terry, a founding member of The House of Love and Levitation, returns as ‘Terry Bickers & The Inner Spiral’.

“Having been stage left or at the back for over two decades it's exciting to be fronting a band again and working with such great musicians! ” says Bickers.

The Inner Spiral sees the guitarist and vocalist enlisting a cast of highly versatile players to perform a new body of work that promises to be semi-autobiographical by nature, scintillating by execution.

With influences as far flung and disparate as The Blue Nile, Magazine, The The & The Velvet Underground, all feeding into his current creative mindset, details of the new material remain largely underwraps for now but come primed with the promise of being unlike anything Terry has put his name to before.

With new track “Keepers” due to appear in the coming months, the wider studio project is confirmed to feature contributions from House of Love compadres Matt Jury (bass), Pete Evans (drums), former Milk and Honey Band member Dan Burke (vocals, guitar & keyboards), The Trudy’s Melissa Jo Heathcote (vocals & keyboards), and Jacqueline Atwood (saxophone); all of whom will also feature in the Terry Bickers & The Inner Spiral live band.

Inspired by the captivating ‘Sing To Tim’ shows last year featuring; Cardiacs, Smith & Drake Ensemble and Spratlys, Bickers felt the urge to return to the other side of the barrier and take his own latest work to live audiences once more.

Fans will gain an exclusive insight into the new music as Terry Bickers & The Inner Spiral confirms a limited number of intimate gigs at venues in Hastings, Reading, and London’s The Lexington this Spring and Summer.

Having played the latter of these venues across two nights with The House of Love back in 2013, his appearance will be his first there in over a decade.

Of what to expect from these upcoming gigs, Bickers hints:

“We’ll be playing some old, some new, some borrowed and some blue!”

Terry Bickers is a guitarist and singer, best known for his work as the original lead guitarist with The House of Love (from 1986 to 1989, 2004 to 2020) and as the frontman of both Levitation and Cradle.

Frequently hailed as one of Britain's most eminent guitarists during the 1980s and 1990s, his distinguished fretwork formed the backbone of The House of Love’s seminal 1988 self-titled debut album, and its smash UK Top 10 sequel dubbed the ‘The Butterfly Album’, which sold over 400,000 copies worldwide.

Forming the psychedelic band Levitation in 1990 with Dave Francolini (Something Pretty Beautiful/ Dragons), Bic Hayes (Cardiacs) Bob White (Milk & Honey Band) and Laurence O’Keefe (The Jazz Butcher) the band would go on to release a series of incendiary EPs between 1991-94 including ‘Coppelia’, ‘After Ever’, ‘World Around’, ‘Even When Your Eyes Are Open’, plus the Rough Trade released debut album ‘Need For Not’ (in 1992).

Departing the band in 1993, Bickers launched a litany of new creative projects in the late 90s including Cradle and Monkey 7 lead by frontman Sam Smith (Casual Sex/ Mother & The Addicts).

Rekindling his creative partnership with Guy Chadwick in the early noughties, the pair reunited The House of Love for live shows and the release of the celebrated albums ‘Days Run Away’ (2005) and ‘She Paints Words in Red’ (2013).

In more recent times, Bickers has worked with the singer-songwriter Pete Fijalkowski, with the duo releasing the album ‘Broken Heart Surgery’ in July 2014 and ‘We Are Millionaires’ in 2017. Born in London, he is currently based in Brighton, England.

Promising his first new music since 2017, standby for more news from Terry Bickers & The Inner Spiral very soon.
