The Bridesmaid release new single 'One More Ugly Joke...'

Enigmatic shape-shifting musical project, THE BRIDESMAID, has today released a new track titled One More Ugly Joke In A Kingdom Of Millions. With previous releases blurring the lines between post-metal, shoegaze, and electronic music, the track is a standalone release that defies categorisation. It is available to download for free HERE. An accompanying video, created by award winning art director/designer, Art of The Glitch, whose credits include Zola Jesus, can be viewed below.

The title and spoken vocal comes from the Black Mirror episode Fifteen Million Merits, sampling the protagonist Bingham 'Bing' Madsen's breathless tirade against, among other things, the homogenization of art and culture, dehumanization of the individual, and the collapse of society. Ultimately, as is often the case with any attempt to kick against authority, the outburst itself becomes the acceptable face of a new, marketable 'authenticity'.

Originally written and recorded in 2005 for an abandoned record of a former project, One More Ugly Joke In A Kingdom Of Millions was worked on in various studios throughout 2006 until the band eventually split up. Numerous attempts were made to resuscitate the song in the following years, before it was picked up as a BRIDESMAID track fully in 2015... and then the individual recording session files were lost. In 2019, a composite mp3 of a previous version was used as a backbone and newly recorded guitar, bass and sample tracks were built around it. Never give up.

THE BRIDESMAID comments: "When every other tweet on your timeline is about how we're living in an episode of Black Mirror, what better time to sample it and show how on trend you are?"

One More Ugly Joke In A Kingdom Of Millions is free to stream/download/share and let into your lives. If listeners are in a position to donate, THE BRIDESMAID suggests a donation of 1 (or more if desired) to Back On Track.

Finding himself terminally lonesome, JJ Saddington creates alone and THE BRIDESMAID remains a one man band by necessity. An EP of entirely new music, from as recent as the previous decade, is expected in August. New material will mark a noticeable departure from earlier work, namely the Grayson EP, released in 2015.
