The Gristle Drop “Misfit” Ahead of Debut Album Urban Myths and Nordic Tour with Philip Shouse

Today, Swedish rock duo The Gristle release their new single Misfit via Icons Creating Evil Art — the final taste of their upcoming debut album Urban Myths, out March 6, 2026.

Raw, riff-driven and unapologetic, Misfit distills the essence of The Gristle: groove, garage and punk filtered through a distinctly Swedish lens. Think the desert swagger of Queens of the Stone Age, the sharp-edged urgency of Jack White and the stripped-down punch of The Black Keys — but dirtier, looser, and defiantly their own.

A rock duo at heart, The Gristle prove that two people can sound like a full-force band. “To build something this powerful with just two people still feels unreal to us,” says label manager Carl-Marcus Gidlöf of Icons Creating Evil Art.

The project began in 2020, when longtime collaborators started writing songs under the name The Gristle. What grew out of countless hours in the studio has become a focused, hard-hitting sound built on feel rather than perfection. Blues, punk and a heavy, rolling groove collide in what could be described as Muddy Waters on a 1969 Triumph chopper — visorless helmet, full throttle.

The duo have previously released two EPs, including their debut recorded at Bombshell Studio together with Dango from Truckfighters. They’ve performed at Fuzz Fest in Stockholm and Malmö, toured Germany twice, the UK once, and supported artists such as Dregen (The Hellacopters), Dick Manitoba (The Dictators), Spiders and Truckfighters.

Urban Myths marks the band’s full-length debut — a record forged through years of songwriting, production work, and shared musical obsession. Every track carries the duo’s signature: thick riffs, swinging groove, and emotional immediacy.

The Gristle in 2026 is Max Bob Malmquist (guitar & vocals) and Peter “Pete” Jansson (drums). Together they write, produce and perform everything themselves — a two-man engine driven by groove and instinct. Since 2020, the band has built their world from the ground up — blending blues grit, punk urgency and heavyweight riff rock into something that feels both classic and immediate. No filler. No polish for the sake of polish. Just songs that hit.

Toured with Truckfighters, Dregen and Spiders in 2024. Then followed that with supporting Handsome Dick Manitoba (Dictators) in 2025. Upcoming tour supporting Philip Shouse (Accept) on his Shouse It Out Loud tour together with Nicke Andersson (The Hellacopters), Jesper Lindgren (Velvet Insane) and Mats Rydström (Abramis Brama)
