The Libertines' Carl Barât joins The Molotovs on stage at landmark show

The Molotovs were joined on stage by Carl Barât for a rendition of The Libertines’ ‘What A Waster’, capping off a triumphant second sold-out show at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on Saturday (26th September).

For brother and sister Matt (18) and Issey (20) Cartlidge it was a landmark moment because five years ago their first show as The Molotovs was at the same venue, supporting The Libertines.

Barât said: “The Molotovs are a true force for good for music today. Years busking on every street corner in the city - and supporting some of the finest acts around - to selling out two forums on their own, they’ve managed to carve their path the old school way. I wish them hearty congratulations and continued greatness.”

Barât first met the band when they were young teenagers getting ready to busk in the rain near The Libertines' Albion Rooms hotel in Margate.

The Molotovs' national ‘Welcome to Urbia’ tour is drawing to a close but a second album, of the same name, is available on pre-order and will be out 9th April 2027.

Since forming, it has been a rapid five-year rise for the band - including international tours and a top-3 album - and Issey told Saturday’s crowd: “So here we are, 600 gigs later, and we’ve got you lot to thank for following on this wayward journey. So thank you very much. This isn’t a final destination, this is only a stop along the way.”

The Molotovs UK tour with Razorlight

The next stop for UK fans is a tour with Razorlight later this year, including a show at OVO Arena Wembley on 4th December. Tickets are available now.
