The Rumjacks Share The New Single And Music Video “An Irish Goodbye On St. Valentine’s Day” - Celtic Punk Titans To Release Sixth Full Album In 2025

Fresh off their fall 2024 tour of North America, The Rumjacks are sharing the new single and music video “An Irish Goodbye On St. Valentine’s Day”. It follows “Come Hell or High Water”, and serves as another preview of the celtic punk outfit’s forthcoming sixth LP, due out in early 2025 via FOUR FOUR. “An Irish Goodbye...” is a testament to The Rumjacks mastery of storytelling through song. “It’s about a couple that can’t seem to make it work.” shares lead singer Mike Rivkees. “It’s Valentine’s Day, he gets to the bar an hour late. She’s pissed off and decides she’s done with his BS excuses. He goes to the bathroom after ripping a few shots, and she heads out the door.” The song’s lyrics paint the scene for the listener. “Now I’m standing here in the freezing rain/and you’re already home/And I only showed up to this place so I wouldn’t die alone.”

The TBA album follows the band’s 2021 LP "Hestia" which was lauded by Kerrang as “the complete package” full of “social commentary, lore and affecting storytelling.” The new album was recorded in Asbury Park, NJ and co-produced by The Rumjacks lead singer Mike Rivkees along with The Bouncing Souls founder Pete Steinkopf, who has lent his talent to albums from artists such as Beach Slang, The Menzingers, and Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem).

With the new singles “An Irish Goodbye On St. Valentine’s Day” and “Come Hell or High Water”, it’s clear the Sydney-born-and-bred band has developed a lot without losing their loud, high-energy party-time essence. It would be impossible for a 17-year-old band to have not grown and changed somehow, but the core sound remains intact and consistent across five studio albums, two live albums, and multiple EPs and singles. Their best-known track, "An Irish Pub Song," went viral with over 91 million views and counting on YouTube alone.
