The Utopiates announces 'The Sun Also Rises'

Rising indie-rock outfit The Utopiates are hitting the ground running in 2023 with a double announcement. Their new single ‘Making History’ will be out on 3rd February and it is taken from their forthcoming debut album ‘The Sun Also Rises’ which they can now confirm is set for release on the 5th May. Previous released songs are Illuminise, Best And Worst Days and Only Human.

"Making History epitomises the confidence running through the band right now. From the get-go this project has been the self-fulfilling prophecy consuming our lives and ‘The Sun Also Rises’ will prove what we’ve always known. Making History was written from Dan’s bedroom at the dawning of The Utopiates and has basically become his mantra! ‘One day you’ll see, yeah they’ll look at me, I’m not up here making tunes I’m making history!’ Says it all really. It’s a big F-you to the quiet life and a rallying cry to the masses; get behind us, cos it’s happening!”

Their single release party for ‘Making History’ will be held at Notting Hill Arts Club on the 1st February and the band have also announced a string of dates around their final single from ‘The Sun Also Rises’ (‘Ups And Downs’ is out late March) as well as the album tour itself. 2022 was the year The Utopiates signed to V2 and were dubbed the band to watch by cult indie promoter This Feeling. A sold-out summer tour followed, and they finished the year completing work on their debut album ‘The Sun Also Rises’ (at The Nave in Leeds). Out on the 5th May 2023 the 12 track release will continue to push the boundaries of their unique brand of groove-laden powerhouse indie.

The Utopiates were formed under the dark clouds of the pandemic and only launched in January ’21 but already the accolades are stacking up (BBC Radio 6 Music DJ, Steve Lamacq/ Radio X’s John Kennedy). They’re extremely confident that 2023 is the year they claim much wider attention and stake a serious claim as one of rock ‘n’ rolls brightest new talents.
