Thomas Dybdahl releases new single 'A Little Something To Give'
Thomas Dybdahl is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Dybdahl's music can be described as the cutting edge of pop folk and jazz and is mostly acoustically tinged. In some occasions he resembles like Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice and Ray LaMontagne.
His latest album 'FEVER' was released on March 13th earlier this year. Instead of playing his music live, Thomas suddenly had to find something else to do due to the global pandemic. Fast forward to the late spring of 2020; ‘Cabin Fever’. This project can be seen as an extension of the album ‘Fever’. “The whole concept of ‘Cabin Fever’ was to try and write songs where I was just directly reacting to the situation around me as it unfolded the summer of 2020. The first single Hard Liquor was, quite frankly, about drinking too much as a way of coping with a new kind of reality, a little too much spare time and disrupted everyday life”, Thomas explains.
On, October 9th, Thomas Dybdahl brings you ‘A Little Something to Give’. His new single was written and recorded in June when the streets of many parts of the world were erupting in anger over police brutality and systemic racist oppression. Although the story of ‘A Little Something To Give’ is framed differently and is about a person wanting to get out of a toxic relationship to prove their worth, there's no denying it was heavily influenced by what was going on in the world at that time. Thomas says: “It felt like things had reached a boiling point and it was impossible to watch these kids marching in the streets without feeling their pain and rage. The summer of 2020 was a blistering one, in many ways, and I guess we felt it too in our little studio in Stavanger. The heat is definitely turned up a bit on this track.”
