U2 celebrate 50 years and deliver a school yard concert for 1000 students and staff,
September 25th, 2026 sees U2 celebrate 50 years since Larry Mullen Jr. pinned a handwritten note - ‘Drummer Seeks Musicians To Form Band’ - to the noticeboard of Mount Temple Comprehensive School on the Northside of Dublin in September 1976.
The band made a return to Mount Temple to deliver a school yard concert for 1000 students and staff, on the exact same spot where they first performed over 50 years ago.
The set list included their first ever single ‘Out of Control’, plus music from newly announced album.
The band were joined onstage for ‘One’ by 32 string musicians (one representing each county on the island of Ireland) from Music Generation.

Island Records announced yesterday the release of Carnaval De Luz - the 16th studio album from U2 and the first album of new material from the band in nine years - out on November 13th, 2026. The news comes with a brand new track titled ‘Silencio’, available now, accompanied by a music video.
