Vari and Malixe Construct Dark, Distorted Labyrinth With Abrasive and Experimental Trap Single "LOST" via Gud Vibrations
Two of bass music’s most uncompromising voices converge as VARI and MALIXE present their collaborative single “LOST,” arriving December 5th on Gud Vibrations. Built from a collision of trap and wave sensibilities, the track channels both producers’ experimental instincts into a piece that’s as volatile as it is meticulously engineered.
“LOST” opens with serrated synth stabs and tightly wound percussion, plunging quickly into a labyrinth of jagged riffs and shifting textures. Pitch-warped leads cut against shadowy arpeggios, while acidic bursts slice through the low-end with surgical precision. The result is a soundscape that feels unstable yet deliberate—a reflection of both artists’ affinity for abrasive detail and restless experimentation.
Chopping up how the cut captures each collaborator at their very best, VARi shares: “‘LOST’ is a track that's been a long time coming, as me and MALIXE had been wanting to combine our styles for quite a while. Mixing his dark and distorted vision of bass music with my own ethereal and rave-infused aesthetic came out perfectly, with a track that feels both large enough for a festival system and dark enough for a warehouse club.”
For VARI, the single continues a prolific streak with Gud Vibrations, following four prior releases on the imprint, including his recent track “Mind,” which drew coverage from outlets such as UFO Network, Canadian Ravers, and FrontView Magazine. His live highlights include EDC Las Vegas, Starbase Music Festival, and Avalon Hollywood, with tastemaker support from Illenium, Alison Wonderland, RL Grime, Joyryde, and the Gud Vibrations founders themselves, NGHTMRE and SLANDER.
MALIXE has carved out a reputation for unpredictability, pulling from trap, drum & bass, UK garage, and techno to shape a sound both aggressive and fluid. His collaborations with Hex Cougar, Oddly Godly, Jade Sierra, and BRVMES have earned co-signs from RL Grime, Rezz, Alison Wonderland, and IMANU. On the live circuit, he has become a fixture at Countdown NYE, EDC Las Vegas, and Nocturnal Wonderland, establishing himself as one of the scene’s most versatile rising artists.
With “LOST,” VARI and MALIXE meet at the intersection of their divergent styles, distilling jagged sonics and glitch-heavy textures into a track built to test the limits of sound systems and listeners alike.
VARI and Malixes’s new single “LOST” is available on all platforms via Gud Vibrations.
