Veras presents new single Tyfoon - Out now
Véras Fawaz is a multi-talent if not a true multi-tasker. He’s a musician, a singer, a songwriter, a YouTuber, a presenter and a video producer. After his love relationship came to an end, together with Dylan van Dael and Isa Azier (indeed, Thomas’s brother) he made a very beautiful melancholic EP in Berlin. Entitled Destructie (Destruction) it will be released later this year. Tyfoon (Typhoon) is the first single.
‘Tyfoon is about the storm that comes into your life after the end of a relationship,’ explains Véras. ‘You try to pick up your life but everything you do feels wrong. You are devastated. Time passes for everyone, but you stand still, nailed to the ground. The lack of love swallows you up like a junkie without heroin. You will never be with her again. If only I had talked... If only I had done everything in a different way. Thousands of scenarios go through your head, but in the storm of denial you have to accept what has happened. There’s a beginning and an ending to everything. At the end of the day everything is finite.’ Listen HERE!
Véras is back after a hiatus of eighteen months that followed after his debut EP Ali. Back in 2018 he sang deep, honest and artistic lyrics on slow lo-fi beats about his Islamic father, his deceased brother and his personal issues. Now in 2020 he will release his new EP Destructie via Amsterdam-based independent label Excelsior Recordings. This new music is Véras’ self-assessment to get to the heart of a depression in a fair and honest way. It is a melancholic broken-heart record, however, with a pop edge to it.
