Vince Staples Releases New Album ‘Big Fish Theory’

BIG FISH THEORY is the long-awaited follow-up to Summertime ’06, Vince’s universally praised debut album of 2015. The monster 20-track long-player was called “a modern gangster rap classic” (New York Times) and cemented Vince’s status as one of music's most creative young MCs. In August 2016, he released the critically celebrated seven-track EP, Prima Donna, with a ten-minute short film directed by Nabil Elderkin.

BIG FISH THEORY contains the unanimously hailed track “BagBak”, praised single “Big Fish,” and newly released “Rain Come Down” – all offered as instant grat tracks with album pre-orders. The “Big Fish” video amassed over 1.5 million views in its first release week, at Vince’s own website. The song was named Best New Track by Pitchfork, and Billboard stated that “Its bouncy beat... pulls from old school Long Beach G-Funk but somehow keeps an edge to it, and Staples' flow bumps and bends along with it as he juxtaposes his former life with one of success.”

Staples was named one of Billboard’s “Six Must-See Summer Festival Acts” and is now looking ahead to huge 2017 festival bookings at Comedy Central’s Colossal Clusterfest, Electric Forest, Pitchfork Festival, Panorama Festival, and Life Is Beautiful, among others.

He will begin a North American summer tour opening for UK band Gorillaz on July 10th at ACC in Toronto, two weeks after the release of BIG FISH THEORY. The 9-city Gorillaz tour in support of their new album ‘Humanz’ will wrap up July 30th at Key Arena in Seattle, and then return with additional shows in October.

Vince has worked with dozens of today’s hottest artists. Most recently; he has been featured on tracks with the Gorillaz ("Ascension"), Flume ("Smoke & Retribution"), Schoolboy Q (“Ride Out”) and GTA (“Little Bit Of This”).
