Welsh pop banshee Catty returns with thunderous new single 'Prized Possession'

Welsh glam-pop firestarter and one of UK pop’s most singular voices CATTY today doubles down with the release of feverish new single ‘Prized Possession’ - an all-or-nothing love song that burns with jealousy and devotion, delivered beneath a veil of gothic theatricality.

A thundering, unfiltered plea to be loved with the same intensity you give away, 'Prized Possession' is a venomous, full-throttle pop track that surges with baroque drama. Built on pounding drums, crunching guitars, warped synths and cinematic vocal stacks, CATTY's lyrics leave no room for doubt: “Give me your jealousy / Kiss, kill and come for me / Do it for the thrill... / But I don’t want a temporary love or a lie / I want someone by my side until I die."

On the release of her new single, CATTY said:

"I think it’s fair to say I have a flair for the dramatic because 'Prized Possession' is basically me saying if you’re in love with me, kill the rest (metaphorically, of course.) I love with every fibre of my being, oftentimes to my detriment but 'Prized Possession' is definitely me saying please love me with everything you have in return."

Written over the course of a week of white wine-fuelled sessions with collaborators Nathan and Juliette, 'Prized Possession' is a track that howls from the hills of heartbreak and obsession; ripped from the pages of a gothic fairytale, blood-stained and blazingly sincere. It’s the sound of someone raised on Welsh mythology, with a history of doomed crushes, 'Prized Possession' is a queer torch song with claws.

Raised in Wales and now based in London, CATTY’s star has been on a fast and uncompromising rise. Her 2024 debut EP ‘Healing Out Of Spite’ earned praise from NME (Breakout), Popjustice (Twenty Quid Music Prize nomination), Dork (digital cover), CLASH (Next Wave), Official Charts (One To Watch), DIY (Get To Know), and more - while BBC Radio 1’s Jodie Bryant, Mollie King and Maia Beth have been unwavering champions.

Last year, she sold out her debut headline show in 20 minutes, supported Dylan and Beth McCarthy on tour, and even opened for Stevie Nicks at BST Hyde Park, closing out the year by headlining a sold out show at London's Lafayette.

This year, CATTY has performed at both Birmingham Pride and London Pride, and stormed Latitude Festival with one of the most captivating sets of the weekend.

With more music to come and a new project on the horizon, ‘Prized Possession’ marks another major step forward for an artist who continues to cast spells and scream her truth without compromise. “There’s a joke with my listeners that CATTY and Catty are two different people – and they’re right,” she says. “CATTY gets in the bar fight. Catty’s already run five miles in the other direction.” Long live CATTY.
