Your new empowering rage-pop anthem amilost unleash some pent up energy with their new single I KNOW BETTER, September 11th
London-based Norwegian-Scottish duo amilost return with I Know Better, a fierce and energetic alt-rock anthem about rejecting other people’s expectations, trusting your instincts and reclaiming control.
Driven by explosive electric guitars, bass, live drums and electronic textures, I Know Better pushes the duo’s Scandinavian alt-pop foundations into heavier territory. At its centre is an enormous, immediate chorus powered by one of vocalist Sigrid’s most commanding performances to date—written to be shouted back rather than quietly absorbed.
“Sick of being told who to be? So are we!” – amilost
That frustration runs through every part of the track. Rather than seeking approval, I Know Better captures the moment when uncertainty turns into defiance: the realization that nobody else gets to decide who you should become. Vulnerability remains central to amilost’s songwriting, but here it is transformed into momentum, distortion and catharsis.
The single arrives after Bad Guy, which was named Track of the Week by BBC Introducing and generated more than one million views across its campaign. The momentum has helped amilost reach 25,000 monthly Spotify listeners while continuing to build an international audience around their emotionally direct songwriting and increasingly powerful sound.
Their relationship with BBC Introducing continues with the radio premiere of I Know Better on BBC Introducing in the South West on September 10, one day ahead of its official release.
The track also marks the second chapter in the duo’s extended campaign for their forthcoming EP How Scary Am I?, due March 12, 2027. The project sees amilost embracing a darker and more forceful side of their identity, pairing cinematic Scandinavian pop with the physical impact of alternative rock.
The campaign will continue with Dust In Slow Motion on November 6 and Wonderful Lie on February 5, leading into the EP’s release in March. Across the project, amilost explore fear, identity, vulnerability and the uncomfortable process of learning to trust your own voice.
The rollout will be supported by PR, paid social activity, new merchandise and an upcoming London performance at The Old Blue Last. A major TikTok and Instagram campaign will build on the duo’s proven ability to connect through short-form content. Their earlier single Tiny War inspired more than 30 million views through fan-created videos and social sharing, while I Know Better offers another natural foundation for audience participation through its empowering message and shout-back chorus.
Formed in London, amilost bring together Norwegian pop sensibility and Scottish alternative influences, creating music where intimate songwriting meets cinematic scale. Their singles have received hundreds of radio plays, led by Norway’s national broadcaster NRK P3, alongside support from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio in the US and Radio Fritz in Germany.
Their music has since received Spotify editorial support from Fresh Finds: Pop and several New Music Friday playlists. Live highlights include showcase performances at Eurosonic ESNS and by, BBC Introducing live sessions and support appearances for Tom Speight at Islington Assembly Hall and Murdo Mitchell at Omeara. The duo have also been featured by outlets including Wonderland Magazine, EARMILK and Metal Magazine.
With I Know Better, amilost are no longer asking for permission. They are turning frustration into an anthem—and inviting everyone who has ever been told who to be to shout back with them. I Know Better is released September 11th, 2026, via Icons Creating Evil Art.
