Between kosmische rhythms and explosions of color and melody, Bear Of Bombay is the solo project of Milanese multi-instrumentalist Lorenzo Parisini.
In 2021, he released his debut EP, "Something Stranger," in which he merges elements of psych, kraut, synthpop, and post-punk into a highly personal formula, which was favourably acclaimed by international critics and earned significant radio exposure both in Europe and in the US/Canada with single 'The Storm.’
Available on all digital platforms as of today, September 6, 2024, Phony Love is the third single off his upcoming new album "PsychoDreamElectroGaze."
Here, the 80s new wave electro pop of Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode combines with noise saturations with a post-punk flavor and a distinct kraut attitude. The music video depicts poisonous love as a monothematic hallucination through the use of acid colors and aggressive effects. A frightening, unpleasant love, tied to a gaze from which it longs to escape, as if trapped. A trip into an emotionality characterized by lucid dreaming, dark attraction, and rejection. The video's main character recalls Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte, a lovely being on the boundary between the living and the dead who fascinates, ensnares, and terrorizes.
The track was produced and recorded by Bear Of Bombay, co-produced and partially recorded at Casamedusa Studios (Milan) by Francesco Campanozzi. It was later mixed and mastered in London by James Aparicio (Spiritualized, Mogwai, Depeche Mode, Liars, Nick Cave, Cult Of Dom Keller).
