On April 2, Close Talker will officially release their new single "Crooked Line" from their critically acclaimed record The Sprawl - listen to the track HERE, watch the official video HERE
"Crooked Line" has been a decade in the making. The track almost made it onto each of the past three albums but never quite fit—until now where it finally found its place, leaning into their most primal creative instincts. With Matt Peter’s expansive production capturing the moment, the song represents a long-awaited culmination of their journey. What began as a passion project for three friends in 2012 has shaped their lives in ways they never anticipated and The Sprawl encapsulates the years 2013-2019—six years of continuous writing, recording, and touring. Those years were filled with incredible achievements, but also with moments of burnout and extended time away from home.
NPR has described their music as “thoughtful and hypnotic” and included it in their Top New Albums on All Songs Considered. Their records have been featured on playlists like New Music Friday, Indie All Stars, Off Pop, and Folk & Friends. On the radio side, they've gained attention from SiriusXM’s The Verge, CBC’s Q and After Dark, and more. They played their hometown of Saskatoon’s Broadway Theatre, where the band collaborated with a classical string ensemble—a long-held goal they had finally achieved. And just when it seemed things couldn’t get any better, they were named Alternative Artist of the Year at the 2020 Saskatchewan Music Awards. After nearly a decade of writing and touring, Close Talker is more than just a band—it’s a core part of who they are. Crooked Line reflects the band’s growth, and they’re excited to share it with the world as the next step in their ongoing journey.
