Portsmouth, UK indie surf rock band Dutch Criminal Record are pleased to reveal the cinematic new video for their latest single ‘C’est La Vie’ which is out now via new label home Alcopop! Records.

Of the experience of shooting the video, vocalist and guitarist Sam Thrussell says: "It was a really cool experience, as we filmed the project at Panavision using their amazing gear which has been featured on so many films and TV series. Joe Cornick (DOP) and Connor Pearson (Director) and the rest of the team are such talented young individuals and managed to make a really cinematic and humorous video which to our minds has a bit of a Jordan Peele-esque feel to it. We particularly like the twist right at the end…”

Commenting on the video, director Connor Pearson and cinematographer Joe Cornick said: “When we heard the song we felt that it had such a distinct, summer sound that the first questions we asked ourselves were ‘Can we subvert this? Can we do something different?’ Then it was just a case of how far we wanted to push it. From the outset Connor and I knew we wanted this to have a distinct dark visual style that would go hand in hand with our unfolding narrative.”

“We built a collection of images that we felt hit the right style and look we wanted for each section. Referencing a wide range of material like horror films, commercials and other music videos, I then worked through lens and light combinations that would give us the look we achieved.”

Dutch Criminal Record recently signed to Alcopop! Records and released sun-drench single ‘Light Up’, which is also out now, serving as the first glimpse of new material from the band since the release of their August 2021 EP It’s Gonna Be OK on frtyfve records. The track landed on Spotify’s peach and Blood, Shred & Tears playlists, and Apple Music's New In Alternative list, picking up a swathe of blog support from indie tastemakers and underground radio.

The trio will support Brighton pop/rock band FUR on their forthcoming September 2022 UK tour dates this week, and also recently announced a run of their own November 2022 UK headline tour dates (see below for listings).
