EUT is back. Today, the band releases new single 'Step By Step'. It can be said that EUT have reinvented themselves: the sound is darker than we are used to from them, with clear 80s influences.

'Step By Step' is a dark, engaging and seductive track, which is partly about the dark thoughts you can have about death. What if only death can still give you the freedom/redemption you seek? On the other hand, the song also has a lighter side, which plays with the idea of fulfilling your lust without thinking about the consequences and feelings of another person.

Driven by an uncompromising attitude and a good sense of humour, EUT is anything but your random school pop band. The band, a collaboration between Megan de Klerk (vocals), Tessa Raadman (guitar), Emiel de Nennie (guitar), David Hoogerheide (bass/keys) and Jim Geurts (drums), is here to keep you sharp. Exactly where you think you know where things are going, they unexpectedly take you off course. The effect? Something dizzying, thoroughly refreshing and something you can't get enough of.

EUT echoes hints from the 90s, from Blur to The Cardigans, as well as contemporaries like art-rock icon St.Vincent. The result is a sound all its own, greater than the sum of its parts. The moment EUT released their first single Supplies via V2 Records in June 2017, they attracted industry attention; that same year, they earned a spot on several 'Bands To Watch in 2018' lists. The following year, they performed as Beck's support act.

Their debut album Fool for the Vibes, released in 2018, confirmed critics' predictions that EUT was one of the most exciting new acts from the Netherlands. They were soon playing at international festivals such as Great Escape Festival (Brighton, UK), Transmusicales (Rennes, France), Noorderslag (Groningen, Netherlands) and Eurosonic (Groningen, Netherlands).

While they built a name for themselves with playful, energetic singles (Cool, What Gives You The Kicks, Had Too Much, Party Time), EUT is more than catchy hooks. Listen closer and you will hear that the pop veneer is a Trojan horse for the frustrations and disappointments of the transition to adulthood. Taking these experiences inside out, EUT produce a richly layered sound, full of emotion, that translates perfectly to their live performances.
