The Washington D.C-based producer Eyezic links up with San Francisco’s singer-songwriter and producer demotapes on their shimmering melodic house collab written about the aching process of moving on from a ruptured relationship.
Two of electronic music’s most versatile new voices collide on “Somebody Else,” a radiant, vocal-driven collaboration from Eyezic and demotapes, arriving December 12th via Lost In Dreams Records. The single bridges the D.C.-based producer’s kinetic approach to genre fusion with the San Francisco artist’s emotional, future-facing pop sensibilities, creating a melodic house cut that shimmers with nostalgia, heart, and movement.
At its core, “Somebody Else” captures the aching sweetness of watching someone move on. Anchored by an airy vocal hook that glows with bittersweet warmth, the track sways between melancholy and release, its sparkling synth textures, lullaby-like melodies, and glossy bassline reflecting both wistfulness and acceptance. The production’s tactile depth in the delicate arpeggios that clank and cascade like wind chimes draws listeners into an introspective dreamscape that feels equally suited for sunset drives and festival mainstages.
Conveying his excitement around working on the collab, Eyezic says, “This one came super easy. I’ve been such a big fan of demotapes for some time and can easily say he has been a big influence in my sound lately. So happy to have worked on this one with him and the excitement we both had on the vision.”
Diving into the meaning behind the single, demotapes explains, “‘Somebody Else’ is a song about moving on from someone and the feelings of sadness and nostalgia for a past relationship.”
The collaboration came together naturally between two artists whose creative worlds have long circled each other. Eyezic began sketching the idea from a sample pack demotapes had shared, capturing an immediate spark that would evolve into their shared vision of reflection and rebirth. The pair road-tested the track during live sets, including Eyezic’s support slot for demotapes’ headline show in New York, where its euphoric melancholy resonated deeply with audiences.
For Eyezic, “Somebody Else” adds another dynamic chapter to a prolific run with Lost In Dreams, following 2023’s ‘Reflections’ EP and this year’s ‘In Motion’ EP. His growing discography on the label has earned praise from EDM Identity, Acid Stag, Relentless Beats, and FrontView Magazine, plus consistent radio support from Alison Wonderland, NGHTMRE, and SLANDER. A fixture of the modern emotional dance landscape, he’s graced major stages at Beyond Wonderland SoCal and Chicago, Spring Awakening, and Elements Festival, with an upcoming set at Lost In Dreams San Francisco to kickstart an exciting 2026.
Bay Area’s demotapes brings his signature cinematic touch to the track—lush, introspective, and brimming with texture. Known for collaborations with Elohim, Disco Lines, and pluko, the San Francisco-based producer continues to refine the line between emotional songwriting and forward-thinking dance music. His live presence has grown in tandem, with performances at Under the K Bridge in Brooklyn and an upcoming Lost In Dreams San Francisco appearance solidifying his rising profile within the label’s expanding universe.
“Somebody Else” embodies the intersection of vulnerability and groove that defines the Lost In Dreams sound: melodic, emotive, and deeply human. It’s a song about letting go, about longing for what once was, and ultimately finding peace in the rhythm of moving forward. For both Eyezic and demotapes, this collaboration is the convergence of two storytellers finding beauty in bittersweet reflection.
Eyezic and demotape’s new single “Somebody Else” is available on all platforms via Lost In Dreams Records.
