With his third album Stellar Drifting (due for release on September 2nd), George FitzGerald unveils a record of wide-eyed wonder and emotion, filled with glistening melodies and iridescent electronics. A forward-thinking growth in both scope and composition, the album stands up with its feet on the dancefloor, but its heart 1000 miles above the earth. Revealing an exclusive Spotify DJ mix today, FitzGerald also unveils Stellar Drifting’s emotional apex; a brand new track titled ‘Setting Sun’.

A subtly pulsing cut of expansive electronica, ‘Setting Sun’ glows with the sense of adventure that imbues Stellar Drifting throughout. Gradually building from a warm soundscape that embodies the changing of time, ‘Setting Sun’ builds incrementally with glistening synths and an uplifting bass tone that engages the shifting emotions that come with time passing. A simultaneously driving yet gentle centrepiece to the album, ‘Setting Sun’ shows FitzGerald at his most masterful; utilising opposing facets of his sonic arsenal to create a piece that guides the listener through a journey through space and memory.

On the track, George says: “‘Setting Sun’ was made to record a moment between great changes - the excitement of a new beginning mixed with the sadness of an ending. I wanted to capture the grandeur and timelessness of electronic music from previous eras, which is so good at conveying this particular combination of emotions. It was written and recorded across a few magical days with my good friends Lawrence Hart and Mike Le Sirge.”

‘Setting Sun’ comes courtesy of a new exclusive DJ mix recorded by FitzGerald for Spotify; a 15-track encapsulation of where his sound lies within the club space, featuring songs by the likes of Daphni, Axel Boman, Jacques Greene, Vegyn and more. Stream the mix HERE. Full tracklist below:
