Ranzer’s journey in the heavy metal underground has been all about steady growth and determination. Formed in 2021, they first made their mark with the demo Demophobie in 2023, which sold out in no time. The overwhelming response led to a vinyl repress as a split with Celebrate Hate, and a few copies are still available for those who missed out.
Since then, Ranzer has been making noise on stage, playing at festivals and sharing bills with bands like Eyehategod, Suffocation, Master, and Rawside. Their mix of old-school Heavy and Thrash Metal with melodic Crust Punk and D-Beat, combined with antifascist lyrics, has been earning them a growing reputation.
With their new full-length album "Leidkultur", now released through their own label, Kein Pardon Records, Ranzer has captured the raw energy of their live performances in recorded form. The album was captured over three cold and challenging days in early 2024 in their Kassel rehearsal room, with their friend and sound technician Tommi G. leading the production. Recorded entirely live, with no triggers, click tracks, or overdubs, the band focused on repeated takes to capture the perfect energy for each track. Ben Jones, known for his work with Meth Leppard, handled the mix and mastering, ensuring the raw and unpolished essence of the sessions remains intact.
The album artwork, created by Thomas "Necromaniac" Westphal, reflects the chaotic and intense feel of the music, inspired directly by the tracks and lyrics. "Leidkultur" features a mix of live-tested tracks and new material, offering a blend of Punk and Metal that feels honest and unfiltered. Fans of Hellhammer, Sodom, and Wolfbrigade may find something to connect with in Ranzer’s sound, which stays true to their DIY roots.
If you’re into Sodom, Hellhammer, or Wolfbrigade, Ranzer’s sound will definitely hit home.
