Gini Brown radiates pure energy and a boisterous lust for life: with her first release ‘Hurt’, the young musician shows just how playful rock music can be, despite the deeply sad story on which ‘Hurt’ is based. It is about Gini's autobiographical experience as a victim of harassment. Gini says of the song: ‘’Hurt' sounds like pain at first, of course, but it's actually a song about healing and growing.’ Because no matter how often she was put down and made to feel bad, she always found the strength to pick herself up again. And so, step by step, she learnt to love herself.
Musically, the song is somewhere between 90s riot grrrl and Britpop - edgy enough to shake things up, but catchy enough to appeal to a potentially large audience. ‘Hurt’ will be followed by another single in spring, and Gini Brown's debut EP will be released at the end of 2025.
