Following the release of Yousef’s ‘Float Away’ remake on esteemed label FFRR, he invites Grammy-Nominated artists Camelphat for remix duties. Widely regarded as one of the biggest tunes on the underground dance music scene at the time, ‘Float Away’ left its mark on a generation of clubbers. Released today, Camelphat alongside Yousef bring the influential track screaming into the new decade.

Mike Di Scala & Dave Whelan, aka Camelphat, have been for the 12 years traversing through the various styles and nuances of house and techno. Beginning their journey as Camelphat in 2008 the pair released a number of EPs and singles, before signing to Dutch label, Spinnin’ Records in 2014. Although, it was their 2017 track, ‘Cola’ which brought the most attention. The collaborative effort with Elderbrook, earned the pair a Grammy-Nomination for ‘Best Dance Recording’, with the track currently sitting with 200Million streams on Spotify alone. ‘Cola’ also earned them a prestigious Ivor Novello nomination, a #1 on Billboard’s Dance Chart in the US, whilst peaking at #16 in the UK’s official chart.

2020 saw them release their acclaimed album, ‘Dark Matter’ and provided more high-profile collaborations with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Jake Bugg and Yannis from Foals as well as electronic music favourites Cristoph, Artbat, & Ali Love. Outside of the studio, the pair have dominated the international touring scene playing festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Creamfields, Parklife in addition to being mainstays in the world’s best clubs.

After Yousef took the opportunity to revisit his seminal classic, ‘Float Away’ and brought it into the modern age of electronic music. Camelphat leave their signature sound on the seminal record, plunging the track to new emotive depths with a re-imagined bassline and soaring build up, the duo take firm aim at the re-opening of the UK’s nightclubs on the 19th July.

‘Float Away’ stays true to Yousef’s artistic vision and ambition, in which he strives to push electronic music forward to the next level, whilst taking the next generation of artists, producers and DJs with him. Evidenced by his close relationship with the Camelphat duo, which has seen them release on Yousef’s Circus Recordings and play regularly at his Circus Events in Liverpool. The updated track alongside Camelphat’s remix, is a clear representation of Yousef’s ambition to do so and also evidence that he has his finger on the pulse of the global scene. The track & remix also received first plays to a crowd during the government led test events ran by Yousef’s own Circus Events, the successful ‘The First Dance’ show, where the emotional official video was filmed.

As Camelphat’s remix completes the package alongside Yousef’s remix, the formers’ key role in making sure the UK’s nightlife economy is restarted in a post-covid world, 2021 has allowed him to show that through resilience, determination and positivity anything can be achieved.
