Five and a half years have passed since Canadian duo Loud Luxury came out of nowhere with their Armada Music debut and breakout hit ‘Body’ (featuring Californian singer-songwriter Brando), and the track’s milestone-heavy rollercoaster ride is far from over. Today, the song surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, a feat only accomplished by a tiny selection of globe-conquering songs, and a first for Loud Luxury, Brando and Armada Music

“We’re speechless,” said Loud Luxury, who found themselves catapulted to global stardom when ‘Body’ took off. Among other accomplishments, the song became Gold-certified in the U.S. within a year, is officially Diamond (10x Platinum) in Canada, hit #4 in the UK Singles chart and #1 in UK Dance and charted in Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic chart. “Never did we expect a song with such humble beginnings to make its way to a billion streams. A HUGE thank you to everyone involved in getting it where it is. Looking forward to celebrating by eating our favourite Canadian dish – poutine out of the plaque – very soon!”

For Brando, the American singer-songwriter who was noticed by Loud Luxury when he performed ahead of a different act’s showcase in Hollywood, it’s been as much of a rollercoaster ride, leading to him signing exclusively with Armada Music as well. “It is such a humbling experience watching ‘Body’ grow from a simple idea dreamt up in a bedroom years ago into something this impactful on the electronic music landscape. I am grateful to Andrew, Joe and everyone at Armada Music for believing in this record the way I did from the beginning. A huge thank you to all our fans and listeners for getting ‘Body’ to one billion streams!”

For Armada Music, the globally renowned dance music label that’s been home to both acts’ musical output since the release of ‘Body’ in October 2017, it’s also the first time one of its releases surpassed 1,000,000,000 streams on Spotify. “This is an incredible milestone for Loud Luxury, Brando and Armada Music, and one the whole team is incredible proud of,” said Maykel Piron, CEO of Armada Music. “It really is a testament to the strong relationship we have with them and the unwavering belief everyone had in the record. We look forward to celebrating together in style very soon!”

About Brando

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Brando was a major force behind Canadian duo Loud Luxury’s multi-platinum-selling, billion-streams hit song ‘Body’ and Don Diablo’s ‘Congratulations’ (more than 50 million streams on Spotify), the latter of which shot up the U.S. Mediabase Dance Chart through a surge of radio plays. His 2020 single called ‘Look Into My Eyes’, which reimagines Charles & Eddie’s ‘Would I Lie To You’, spent ten straight weeks atop Australia’s airplay chart, taking the crown for the most-played song of the year from The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’. The song even entered the Spotify Top 200 in Australia, Austria, Germany, Sweden and New Zealand, all while clocking up over 58 million streams across the most popular streaming platforms so far.
