The early lineup of Nemesis RI consisted of Anthony Palumbo on rhythm guitar, Jim Horner on vocals, Brian Pavia on bass, Anthony Sparaco on drums, and the author on lead guitar. They practiced in a commercial garage, playing covers of songs by bands like Dokken, Iron Maiden, The Clash, and Metallica. The author brought in their first original song "Mirage" and wrote "Pharaohs" and "Sands of Time" specifically for the band. The band went through several lineup changes and eventually settled on the name Nemesis RI. They were working on their fourth song "Kings" at the time of the writing.

In 1991, a heavy metal band from Rhode Island named Nemesis RI formed with a line-up of Anthony Palumbo on rhythm guitar, Jim Horner on vocals, Brian Pavia on bass, Anthony Sparaco on drums, and the author on lead guitar. They began by playing covers of songs by Dokken, Iron Maiden, The Clash, and Metallica, but soon started to write their own songs such as "Mirage" and "Pharaohs". However, in the spring of 1991, the band went through their first of many line-up changes as Anthony P. and the author pushed the band towards heavier music and parted ways with Brian and Anthony S. They also moved to a new rehearsel space in Providence and adopted the band name "Nemesis" which was derived from a H.P. Lovecraft poem. They recruited a new drummer and bass player and continued to work on new music. However, by the fall of 1991, they recorded a demo, with the author playing bass, but the vocal session for "Sands" did not go well and the band died a slow death throughout 1992.

The band Nemesis RI formed in the late 80s and initially consisted of Anthony Palumbo (rhythm guitar), Jim Horner (vocals), Brian Pavia (bass), Anthony Sparaco (drums), and the author (lead guitar). They played in a commercial garage and covered songs by bands such as Dokken, Iron Maiden, The Clash, and Metallica. The band wrote their first original song, "Mirage," and later "Pharaohs" and "Sands of Time." The band went through several lineup changes, with the author and Palumbo pushing for a heavier sound and eventually parting ways with Pavia and Sparaco. The author came up with the band name, Nemesis, and they recruited new members, including drummer Frank Cardillo who helped shape the band's sound. They recorded several demos, with the final version of "Sands of Time" being recorded in 1995. The band eventually disbanded in 1992, but the author continued to work on the recording of "Sands of Time" with Cardillo.
