Popular producer and trackmaker Yaffle's “Storm ft. KARÍTAS” from his new album “After the chaos” was pre-released today. The lyric video has also been released. “Storm ft. KARÍTAS” features KARÍTAS, a singer/rapper from Daughters of Reykjavík. Written in the image of an Icelandic storm, it is guided by the concept that what is created for personal motivation will gradually be connected to social phenomenon.

The track listing for the album was also unveiled. "After the chaos” will be released on Friday, February 17, 2023.

“After the chaos” includes collaborations with some of Iceland’s rising artists, such as CeaseTone, KARÍTAS, and RAKEL, as well as young artists at the forefront of classical music today, such as violinist Mayuko Ishigami and clarinetist István Kohaan. Among the ten tracks is a rework of "Empty Room ft. Benny Sings," featuring Dutch singer/songwriter Benny Sings from 2018, the first of Yaffle’s artist project.

“After the chaos” is a new post-classical project started by Yaffle, who has always valued classical music as his creative origin. It is an album of personal nostalgia and reflection with a universal message for the chaotic times of epidemics and wars.

An album indispensable to the music of the turbulent 2020s is born.

Featuring Artist:

CeaseTone

CeaseTone is a project by Hafsteinn Þráinsson, Icelandic multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and arranger among many other things, formed in 2015 and has been actively touring, releasing music and collaborating since then. Along with working closely with some of Iceland’s greatest acts like Daði Freyr, Ólafur Arnalds, Axel Flóvent and Jói Pé & Króli and being heavily involved and the local pop, hip hop and indiescene, Hafsteinn exploers his wast musical range and ispirations in his music with Ceasetone where everything from neo-classical to proggy metal to synth-y indie pop gets to shine in a shoegaze-y blend of soundscapes.

KARÍTAS

Starting off her music career as a DJ in 2015, she then joined forces with Daughters of Reykjavík in early 2018 and quickly also became a singer/rapper in the group. That collaboration ignited her determination to pursue a career in music, resulting in her solo project that has grasped ears and attention in the Icelandic music scene. With dreamy soundscapes and brutally honest lyrics, she goes for a truthful expression of being young and broken-hearted.

RAKEL

RAKEL is a Reykjavík based musician and vocalist from a small town in the North of Iceland called Akureyri. Having performed with various artists throughout the years she’s now debuting her own music. In the spring of 2021 she released her EP, Nothing Ever Changes. Her first single, Keeping Me Awake, was released in October 2020 “…a dreamy, emotional melange of pop and electronic beats that crescendos into a cinematic masterpiece…” as described in The Reykjavík Grapevine. Her second single, Our Favourite Line, charted at #1 in Iceland. Earlier this year she released the split-album, While We Wait, with her two friends and musicians, Salóme Katrín (IS) and ZAAR (DK). RAKEL was nominated as newcomer of the year for the Icelandic Music Awards 2021.

Benny Sings

A Dutch singer-songwriter/producer from Amsterdam, Benny Sings made his debut in 2003 with the album "Champagne People.” A pop maestro, his excellent pop sensibility and artisanal magical arrangement style are much sought-after in Japan. His latest album, "Music," featuring Mac DeMarco and Tom Misch, was released in 2021 from the prestigious Stones Throw Label. His collaboration includes Rex Orange County, Mocky, Free Nationals, Kenny Beats, and Mayer Hawthorne to Japanese domestic artists such as Sukima Switch, cero, Yuko Ando, Asako Toki, TENDRE, and many more.
