Following their debut single “Building a windmill”, which immediately received airplay on Radio 1, and the following releases “Third time’s a charm”, “Runaway robin” and “98% Lit moon” (also aired on Radio 1 and Willy), When Heaven Met Earth now present “Flapping of a butterfly” (ft. Peter Broderick). It is the band’s fifth and most catchy and radiofriendly single ahead of their debut album, due for release on April 17, 2026 via Polymoon.

Flapping of a butterfly” (ft. Peter Broderick) is rooted in the idea of the butterfly effect: a feeling so small it almost goes unnoticed, yet powerful enough to set a chain reaction in motion. The song captures that precise moment when you realise you’ve been touched by love, by a new possibility, or by a renewed sense of direction.

“In the lyrics, the focus shifts towards vulnerability and growth,” explains Paulien Rondou. “Images such as ‘learning to walk among the branches’ and ‘learning to fly on the wind’ reflect navigating unfamiliar emotional terrain and daring to let go of control. ‘Learning to talk to strangers’ also points to the courage required to break out of fixed patterns and allow change, even when it feels uncomfortable.”

Flapping of a butterfly” is a reminder that small things can have far-reaching consequences and that they can sometimes turn your day upside down in the best possible way.
