Aggrasoppar are releasing today their new EP, "MIDNÁTTARSANG"

Faroese explosive experimental rap-punk outfit AGGRASOPPAR are releasing today their new EP, "MIDNÁTTARSANG" (MIDNIGHTSONG), out via the local imprint Tutl Records.

"MIDNÁTTARSANG" (MIDNIGHTSONG) is the second instalment and B-side of a double concept album: the first half, døgurðaslang” EP, was released last summer. In the first half, the title of which means "lunch-nap", AGGRASOPPAR showed their soft, nostalgic and tender side. All 8 tracks believe in the goodness in every human being walking this earth at this moment. "MIDNÁTTARSANG" is, complementarily, the darker half of the album.

"MIDNÁTTARSANG" is the black sheep in AGGRASOPPAR's double EP family”, the band say. “It's wilder, muddier, angrier. It's AGGRASOPPAR when they're having fun. Come and join the party."

The word "MIDNÁTTARSANG" translates to "midnight song", which refers to the Faroese tradition of gathering by the thousands at midnight of the annual national day to chain dance and sing old folk ballads.

AGGRASOPPAR has had an intense start to 2024 with a lot of concerts, two of them being at Eurosonic in the Netherlands and Trondheim Calling in Norway. They’ve also been confirmed for The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, in May 2024, for Fusion Fest, and Skandaløs in Germany.

About Aggrasoppar

Comprised of Dania O. Tausen, Eyðfinn Bogason Lamhauge, and Trygvi Danielsen, Aggrasoppar [Agg:rah:soh:parr] is a Faroese “flowerpunk naprap semi-supergroup” which erupted from the societal slumber of 2020 and released its 20-song-strong debut album on Christmas Eve 2020. They are infamous for their energetic live performances where you never know what to expect from their surprisingly big and diverse repertoire – everything from harsh noise to soft country.

Aggrasoppar’s music covers a wide variety of genres and moods, all bound together by the playful weirdness of the production and performances of the three core members who go by the pseudonyms Ayphinn, Dada, and Sóljudrongur. It is defined as “uncomfortably cute, lovingly gross and freshly awkward.” With unconventional lyrics and instrumentals, Aggraasoppar have taken the underground by storm with their soaring, rough, dreaming, nightmarish music on their self-titled debut album, “æðrasoppar”.

Aggrasoppar promise their show to be just what those expect who never know what the hell is going on.

"Aggrasoppar is an example of skillful treatment of music in an experimental and unconventional way. You get to face the fusion of many styles and genres, including EBM, neo-soul, trip-hop, hip hop, electro-pop, punk, dark ambience, industrial, jazz and ethnic, with great beats, interesting melodies and fantastic samples. Aggrasoppar balances between darkness and sensual sweetness. The music has no limits, and each time you find something in it." - STACJA ISLANDIA
