Alex Amor shares magnetic new single 'Avalanche' | Debut album 'Heavenly Bodies' out 21 August via VERO Music

 Scottish singer-songwriter Alex Amor today releases her latest single 'Avalanche' - a new glimpse of her forthcoming debut album 'Heavenly Bodies' - out 21st August via New York independent label VERO Music. Alex Amor supports Prima Queen at The 100 Club in London tonight (9 June).

The original demo of 'Avalanche' was written and produced by Alex in her childhood bedroom in Glasgow, before bringing it to her "holy trinity" of collaborators in London - Peter Brien (Kojaque, Kean Kavanagh), Baz Kaye (The Blessed Madonna, Obongjayar) and Karma Kid (Jessie Ware, Jalen Ngonda) - to complete the song.

Led by layered guitars, gauzy harmonies and sweeping soft-rock arrangements, 'Avalanche' unfolds with a slow-building sense of release. Pairing melodic warmth and muted dream-pop textures with intimate songwriting, Amor documents the clarity that arrives just before a relationship falls apart.

The new single arrives off the back of appearances last month at Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape Festival in Brighton and Footsteps Festival in London.

Speaking on the release of 'Avalanche', Alex Amor said:

"Avalanche is about the unsettling moment in a relationship where something has shifted, but only one of you is willing to see it. While you’re starting to recognise it for what it is, the other person is still holding on, almost wilfully ignoring the cracks. The idea of an avalanche felt like the perfect metaphor. It’s not necessarily about destruction, it’s about release. It’s what happens when pressure has been building for too long and can’t be contained anymore. It’s sudden, overwhelming, and sometimes painful, but it clears everything out. And in that aftermath, there’s a kind of clarity - you can finally see things as they really are.”

Alex Amor's debut album 'Heavenly Bodies' weaves together celestial imagery, spirituality, and the vast emotional terrain of human connection, reflecting Amor’s fascination with cosmic symbolism and the belief that personal experiences mirror the rhythms of the universe.

Heavily informed by meditation, rune reading and the work of Swedish mystic Hilma af Klint, pairing diaristic songwriting with layered, hypnotic production, the album marks a clear evolution from the raw indie charge of Amor’s earlier work - allowing intimate confessions to unfold within shimmering guitars, floating synths and slow-burning arrangements.

Written and recorded between London and Glasgow with Peter Brien (Kojaque, Kean Kavanagh), Baz Kaye (The Blessed Madonna, Obongjayar) and Karma Kid (Jessie Ware, Jalen Ngonda), 'Heavenly Bodies' was then mixed by Matthew Neighbour (Role Model, Lord Huron) and mastered by Katie Tavini.

'Heavenly Bodies' signals the arrival of a bold and fully realised artistic voice - one unafraid to explore the space between earthly emotion and something far more infinite.

To date Alex Amor has released three EPs: her debut ‘Love Language’ in 2021 and 'The Art Of Letting Go' in 2022 and 'Super Sonic' in 2023. Her music has garnered over 8 million streams and earned widespread support across radio and press: BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri), The Line of Best Fit, DIY Magazine, CLASH Magazine, Dork Magazine, Wonderland, Notion, 1883 Magazine, The Skinny, Ones To Watch, The Sunday Mail and The Scotsman.

Previously Alex has performed at festivals including TRNSMT, The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City, Live at Leeds and Dot To Dot alongside extensive UK touring and dates with Good Neighbours, Liang Lawrence, Gretta Ray, Swim Deep, VLURE, amongst others.
