Basilar Festival 8-11 September Barragem dos Pisões, Montalegre, Portugal

Basilar Festival will hold its 1st edition from 8-11 September 2022 at Barragem dos Pisões, Montalegre. Focusing on techno and its variants, Basilar emerges from a desire to bring together a community of artists and followers with whom we share common values and a vision of techno music. A complete experience sewn together by some of the most thrilling acts in the national and international scenes.

Taking place in an idyllic setting surrounded by nature and in an intimate atmosphere, Basilar intends to merge with the environment in a non-intrusive way, with sustainability and structural concerns, aiming for a truly immersive experience. Throughout the 4 days, Basilar will present a selection of international guests of undeniable relevance in the current panorama of techno music. An example of such is SYNC., a project by renowned artists AtomTM and Peter Van Hoesen, which takes the audience on a journey with a hybrid, real-time, musical performance. Dasha Rush’s driving and detail-rich techno, intelligently dreamy and effusive, Silent Servant, whose fusion of techno with the industrial and post-punk genres earned him a singular and markedly transgressive identity, and Freddy K, an artist with a 360o vision of the genre which allows him to coherently envelop everything from the hypnotic to the most expansive techno, to Detroit electro and new wave. The Italian, famous for his behemoth closing sets at Berghain will be in charge of the festival’s finale. Also featuring on the bill are techno icons Deniro, a mesmerising sonic architect with an infectious groove whose sets transcend genre barriers, Don Williams b2b Rifts, on a journey through a wide range of electronic sub-genres, where the present and the past blend in perfect harmony, and Shinedoe, a DJ that connects Chicago and Detroit through her timeless and soulful trademark techno. Spanish acts Unkle Fon, sound activist from Madrid's UTOP14 Secret Society, and Montero, a true master behind the decks, creator of the GAEX events in Berlin and with ties to Klockworks, label run by Ben Klock, complete for now the international lineup. The national front will be spearhead by Hayes Collective.

The Portuguese label is by now a leading project in the global techno scene and will showcase its core artists at Basilar. The crew will navigate the various ramifications of the genre, from Temudo’s conspicuous contemporary approach to Nørbak’s uncompromising blend of the physical and mental traits of techno. Lastly, we welcome Enkō, who will bring his groovy and distinctly organic vibe to the front stage; Gare Porto’s programmer and dub techno aficionado Amulador; Tauer and Esoteric, unavoidable figures of the national underground scene. More names are to be announced.
