Beachpeople releases has-been

With pride, BEACHPEOPLE, the solo project of former AnnenMayKantereit bassist Malte Huck, announces its debut album 'has-been'. The album will be released on February 21, 2025, via V2 Records. This deeply personal work marks a new chapter in Huck's musical journey, four years after his departure from the successful German band.

The title 'has-been' plays with self-irony and reflects on the themes of letting go and starting anew. The album tells a story of transformation and farewell. It serves as a musical archive of Huck’s recent years: his decision to leave AnnenMayKantereit, his personal growth, and his process of dealing with loss. The album also includes a tribute to his close friend and musical companion Julian (alias Lord Folter), who passed away in 2023.

After the critically acclaimed EP “i’ll be gone for a little while” from 2022, which hinted at his new musical direction, Huck began recording 'has-been' at the end of 2023 in Austria, by Lake Wolfgang. The result is an intimate album of just under 36 minutes, in which he bids farewell to old versions of himself, childhood memories, dependencies, and preconceived notions of what life should look like.
