Bone China sign to Blitzcat Records for debut single 'Heaven Now'

London-based duo Bone China today share their debut single 'Heaven Now' and announce their signing to UK tastemaker label Blitzcat Records (C Turtle, Flip Top Head).

An instinct-led introduction to a project rooted in memory and subconscious creation, 'Heaven Now' was written shortly after moving to London, sparked by a disorientating encounter vocalist Luke Lovekin recalls.

Blending lo-fi indie-rock and alt-grunge with a strong melodic core, 'Heaven Now' moves between stripped-back intimacy and full-bodied, distortion-led release - recorded between Luke’s flat and a makeshift studio in Hackney across 2025.

Built initially from a skeletal demo brought in by guitarist Ben Anthony and recorded largely in first takes, the track leans into immediacy with vocals left unpolished and lyrics unfolding in real time.

Speaking on the track, lyricist and vocalist Luke Lovekin said:

"It’s based on an unusual encounter. This guy called Isaac ran across the road, walked and talked with me till I reached my street in Forest Hill; his final question being 'what’s your relationship with God'. The song just fell out of me. I’d been in a prolonged period of solitude, I’d just moved to London and appreciated the organic encounter. 90% of the vocals are first take and the lyrics were written in a session of subconscious exfoliation while Ben put his instrumental in front of me. We tried polishing certain parts as I can be precious over the writing, but it just couldn’t beat the delivery of the original."

Consisting of Luke Lovekin (Stoke-on-Trent) and Ben Anthony (Hertfordshire), Bone China formed organically after the pair reconnected in London, having first met at university in Chester. What began as casual, unforced writing sessions quickly turned into something more instinctive and fully realised - a collection of songs that felt less constructed and more uncovered.

With their foundations rooted in 90s guitar music, and skate and surf culture feeding into the band’s sense of nostalgia, Bone China further draw on the character-led writing of Tom Waits alongside references including Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, Soundgarden and Radiohead.

Their sound is shaped by feeling and personal exploration, with more new music to follow in the coming months.
