Caïman (dream-folk, Lyon) - New single out, new album due this fall

Caïman loves intensity, haunted forests, winding back roads, telling stories, and refuses to ever sound the same twice. In the dense chorus of her electric guitar, singer-songwriter Chloé K.Serme-Morin crafts liberated and mystical incantations. Often described as a Patti Smith from Lyon fused with Marika Hackman or Liz Fraser (Cocteau Twins), Caïman paints an amplified watercolor just like the creatures she summons: dark, tender, sincere, and steeped in tales of metamorphosis, insurrection, magic, and ghosts.

Three years after the release of her debut album, Caïman returns with « Dreams are ways to see dead people again », the first single and music video taken from her upcoming album, out this fall. A psychedelic dream-folk journey through the realm of dreams, led by a voice that is both sensitive and enigmatic.

"I believe dreams are encrypted messages that linger within us. There are also the only places where we can still find the shape, the voice, sometimes even the scent of someone or somewhere we miss. I’m fascinated by lucid dreams and « shifters », those who can control how they dream, shaping it to their will, like an alternate reality crafted by the mind and desire. Dreaming is our first magical power, the second is our ability to learn countless languages. I chose to keep the original language (English) in which this mantra-song came to me, to not distort its dreamlike quality, and to preserve that surreal distance, something much harder to maintain in my native tongue, where every word carries a more immediate, grounded meaning. » - Caïman
