Corro team up with musical genre outlaw Zardonic to remix his latest single Mona Liza Overdrive
Emerging from the shadows, brimming with colour & Nordic charm, CORRO continues to carve out his place within the music sphere with an arsenal of melody & aesthetic, usually reserved for the elite. Honing his talent in the trenches, with former bands DEADLOCKED STATE & Kerbera, CORRO has since embarked on his own formidable journey, signing to Swedish independent label Icons Creating Evil Art in 2019, and releasing a string of unapologetically, boundary bending singles and an EP since.
Mona Liza Overdrive is the next step and a new direction on that journey. Not just a song, but a statement of intent that aims to catapult CORRO into a brand-new realm. Written by CORRO and featuring production from Glaswegian duo Johnny Madden (Baby Strange) & Chris Marshall (7West Studios / Gerry Cinnamon) plus guest drums from Chris Allen (Malefice, Brian May), Mona Liza Overdrive is poised to be one of the stand-out alternative tracks of the summer.
The adrenaline-pumping drum'n bass remix of Mona Liza Overdrive is created by the musical genre outlaw and energy-visionary Zardonic (Bullet for my Valentine, Smash into Pieces). Whilst drum'n bass and metal have evolved along completely different historical trajectories and draw disctinct crowds to unrelated events, they share a stylistic rooting in raw, unadulterated energy and an unbashed tendency to recide on the fringes. Neither are mainstream, both make you want to move and the inherit message is one of creative expression without boundaries or limits. It’s this rejection of boundaries which defines Zardonic and his mission to stir the sonic melting pot and cultivate a sound that resonates with music fans who worship energy above all else is manifested in this new remix.
Sonically seductive & musically mesmerizing, MLO takes inspiration from the William Gibson science-fiction novel of the same name and is the sound of an artist connecting vision to aesthetic in a unique & truly exciting way. CORRO comments:
" Mona Liza Overdrive is straight up about breaking free from the role or place you’ve been feeling stuck in. It has been something very personal as I have now and then felt I have had to play a role, not necessary by anyone around me but mostly by myself. Specifically as I have been trying to find myself as a solo artist after a lifetime in bands.
This is me, Mona Liza Overdrive
is me saying fuck it, be what you want, identify as who you really are,
no one will save you, so don’t wait.
Do it yourself, FOR yourself.
So come and take a ride that we call
Mona Liza Overdrive."
CORRO's debut album 'Stay Tuned to Have your Heart Broken' will be released this year, the new Zardonic Remix of the single Mona Liza Overdrive is out August 6 via Icons Creating Evil Art.
