Danish rockers Junkyard Drive announce new album 'SQUEEZE' and reveal freshly updated sound with first single 'Ordinary'

Danish leading rock band Junkyard Drive returns with a new take on their unique style with the new single and video ‘Ordinary’, the first from their upcoming November album ‘SQUEEZE’. Since their inception in 2014, Junkyard Drive has made a mark on the rock scene with intense energy and unequivocal passion. After cementing their reputation with the albums ‘Black Coffee’, and ‘Electric Love’, they have proven their ability to evolve and create music that resonates, latest with ‘Look At Me Now’ from 2024.

With the new collection of songs, Junkyard Drive points in a new direction, while maintaining their trademark sound, high energy and superb songwriting, as showcased on ‘Ordinary’.

Lead singer Kristian Johansen states on ‘Ordinary’: “Ordinary” showcases the band’s new musical direction. It presents a more harmonic and modern sound, still built on a solid rock foundation. A catchy hook, a highly recognizable guitar theme, and a strong message underline the track, which is about accepting that most of us are ordinary people — and that this is actually perfectly okay.

And guitarist Oliver Hartmann elaborates on the theme:

There’s community, dignity and power in just being a regular human being rather than trying to live up to impossible expectations. I think we tend to forget that. To me, this song is about pushing back against all the labels and expectations people put on you.

The new single ‘Ordinary' is actually the song that went viral before it was even released. Over 600,000 views on this clip where the band demonstrates their creativity over the track for “Ordinary” HERE.

This time, Junkyard Drive has broken with their usual framework and gone 100% independent. The album is the result of an uncompromising DIY approach, where the band has taken full control of the entire process, from the first demo to the release. They haven’t been entirely alone, however. ‘SQUEEZE’ has come together with massive support from the band’s loyal fans (Junkyard Rebels), who made the release possible through crowdfunding. It’s rock ’n’ roll at eye level, funded by the very people it’s all about: The audience.

Junkyard Drive have long since cemented their status as one of Denmark’s strongest live acts. With their roots firmly planted in classic rock, yet with a modern melodic touch, they have carved out their own distinct lane in the musical landscape. The last couple of years have gone by, with rocket speed, supporting Steel Panther, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons and The Lazys, three european tours and 75 show-nights.

With four critical acclaimed albums and over 200 live performances in 16 countries, including Sweden Rock Festival (2018), Copenhell (2022) and 36 other festivals all over, shows with a band that, like Junkyard Drive, live for the live-experience and the connection with an audience who, after 11 years has become an extended family in and of itself.
