Devault returns to Insomniac Records with two-track EP ‘What I Came For’
Devault returns to Insomniac Records with his new two-track release, ‘What I Came For,’ a pair of pulse-pounding cuts that showcase his range within contemporary house music.
Raised in Orange County, Devault is a critically acclaimed electronic music producer whose concept-driven songwriting and cinematic soundscapes have yielded a decade-spanning catalog of dance music. Balancing dancefloor functionality with hook-fueled catharsis, the genre-defying artist's latest evolution reflects a full immersion into modern club culture.
The title track, "What I Came For," is a vocal-tinged house offering built around the musings of edgy, experimental club-pop phenom Shygirl. Sampled from her subversive, breakbeat-led track "Honey," off her debut album Nymph, her ethereal vocals retain their weightless essence while taking on an equally dreamy form within Devault's four-on-the-floor production. The second single ‘Keep Your Body Pumpin’ is a driving tech house cut with hypnotizing melodies and primed for the club.
The two-track EP follows Devault's most recent Insomniac Records output, "Zero," released in February. The single has drawn more than 1.35 million streams and received mixshow support from John Summit, Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens, and more. Additionally, Devault's recent single "Feels Like Us," landed in the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, reached No. 1 on Beatport's Melodic House & Techno chart, and spent nine consecutive weeks at No. 1 on SiriusXM's BPM.
‘What I Came For’ arrives in the midst of the Devault World Tour, a 40 stop run that includes upcoming dates at EDC Orlando, Hollywood Palladium, Experts Only Festival, Experts Only at the Gorge, Breakaway, Seismic Dance Event, and Lights All Night, along with headline shows at The Magic Stick, Playground Rooftop, Sunbar, Celebrities, Blackbox, The Regency Ballroom, and The Fruit. The tour's first leg included stops at Electric Forest, Club Space, Lollapalooza, UNVRS, Das Energi, FVDED in the Park, and Electric Island.
“Both of these songs I’ve worked on and tested on tour for about 9 months now, and I’m so happy to finally get both of these out. I think they both highlight the sound I’ve really cemented in the club space, and both are staples in my sets right now. They are energetic, sample-based, and a true testament to where my sonic world has gone.” - Devault
