Dubinski New Single “Ciggy Burns” Out Now

Comprised of the Edinburgh based Gaine brothers - Eugene (vocals, guitar), Fergus (lead guitar), Donal (bass), and Eoin (drums) - Dubinski stand at the forefront of Scotland’s next wave of alternative rock. Combining jagged guitars, propulsive rhythms, and soaring vocal hooks with thought-provoking lyricism, the four-piece should appeal to fans of socially conscious, fierce bands such as Fontaines D.C, IDLES, Benefits and Yard Act. Dubinski have gigged relentlessly over the past three years, supporting artists including Young Knives and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club while headlining their own shows across the UK & Europe.
Recorded at Salvation Studios in Brighton and produced by Mike Horner, “Ciggy Burns” is another step up for Dubinski, who have a musical chemistry that only genetic bonds, plus years of practice, can forge. Opening with a Franz Ferdinand-esque propulsive riff, “Ciggy Burns” rips from the start and doesn’t let up for a second. The lyrics explore the destructive power of an inner voice that feeds self-doubt, depression, and addictive behavior.
“Ciggy Burns describes the struggle between two internal voices, one cruel and controlling, the other fragile and easily manipulated”, explains Eugene. “By the end, submission turns into resistance, and the quieter voice finds the strength to break free, highlighting how the way we speak to ourselves can shape both our mindset and our actions”.
“Ciggy Burns” follows recent single “Back To Basics” - “Tracks like Back To Basics are what indie rock is all about” (Analogue Trash) - and both tracks will feature on Dubinski’s as-yet-untitled new long player, set for release later this year.
