Earl Grey Release EP 'Passing Time'
Lifting their moniker from the tea that vocalist Malte ‘Pedro’ Unnasch would devour whilst tracking vocals on the band’s debut EP (‘Ready To Leave’), Earl Grey‘s newly released work is EP ‘Passing Time’, their second E.P of the year. Seeing the band on more confident form, bassist Lukas opines: “The new release is definitely more powerful than the first. I feel like the songs have more passion and energy. Every step we took, every decision we made has been talked over a lot. Our policy in the band is not to do anything if not everyone's completely satisfied with that decision.”
With the release reflecting their eagerness to keep up the momentum, the band comment that “There was just 6 months in between recording the two releases, so whilst we obviously didn't reinvent the wheel with this one, wedo all think that this EP is a big step forward. The songs deliver more passion, honesty and energy, and that's exactly what we were looking for; I think that we finally found our sound we want to represent the band.”
Discussing the artwork for the release, the quintet have revealed that the images on the front and back covers are of relatives, which neatly links to their lyrics and themes: "A lot of our lyrics are about messed up situations and feeling betrayed or left alone, lost or hopeless. We deal in our songs with where we come from, what makes us who we are and what music we play. We are far from being miserable, but our music is our strength."
