Feel Up Records Presents: Fire Alarm by Proper Villains & Metric Man

New York City - 2016's soundtrack draws influence from the most musical parts of the Caribbean. MC Metric Man and Proper Villains, who have formed together as Fire Alarm, pull inspiration from their homelands: Metric Man reps Laventille Road of Trinidad & Tobago and Proper Villains, a product of Queens, NY. Their self-titled 5-track debut EP (out 8/5 via Feel Up Records) is a hybrid of their musical upbringing.

"We were both raised on Wu-Tang records and mid-90s golden era dancehall and the crossover that was happening between dancehall and hip-hop at that time. It was less about, 'here's the nerdy white guy with the Skrillex noises and here's the reggae guy' and more about 'here's our favorite party records from 20 years ago. What would they sound like if they were made in 2016?' says Proper Villains exclusively to Mass Appeal.

Last fall, the duo dropped their Fire Alarm mixtape as an official introduction for the Fire Alarm EP. The combination of Proper Villains’ 20-year run in NYC’s club scene and Metric Man’s swagger and music catalog (Burn the Fire, Easy Star and Reel Me), make Fire Alarm a force to be reckoned with.
