Felicia Douglass reimagines Dirty Projectors with an ambient remix

Producer, artist & songwriter Felicia Douglass calls on NATURE as a collaborator to deliver a gentle, soothing ambient remix of 'Shifting Shalestones', originally featured on the acclaimed 2025 album Song of The Earth by David Longstreth, Dirty Projectors & chamber group stargaze.

Upon its release the album itself was heralded as a "symphony for a burning world" (New Yorker) and an "escapist jaunt into the natural world" (Line of Best Fit), still finding & evoking a sense of natural beauty within the context of the untold destruction inflicted upon our planet.

Felicia Douglass takes this one step further by incorporating the sound of nature into the piece. Released in partnership with Earth Percent / Sounds Right, the release credits NATURE as an official artist, allowing streams to generate royalties for global conservation.

I was always drawn to Shifting Shalestones for its descriptive simplicity centered around environmental elements, so I loved the idea of creating a layered soundscape with NATURE. I played with the repetition of vocals and weaved in exuberant sounds to mirror the sense of stepping on rocks. It’s an honor to play a small part in giving love and care for the planet.
