G.R. Gritt 'Prisms'- An Album of Queer Love Songs Out Today

JUNO Award winning, Two-Spirit, Transgender, Francophone, Indigenous artist, G.R. Gritt today releases Prisms, an album of queer love songs, via Minotan Music. With this record Gritt wanted to reflect a myriad of expressions of the various communities they are a part of and provide a mirror for the communities so they can see themselves reflected and represented in the music and in the music industry. Prisms features features queer, non-binary and trans musicians including Polaris Prize longlisters Sydanie and Rosina Kazi (LAL); Tessa Balaz and Petr Balaz, as well as 2- Spirit and queer artists Lacey Hill, Smokii Sumac and Connor Lafortune.

Speaking on Prisms G.R. Gritt says, “With this album I want to reflect a myriad of expressions of love that the various communities I am a part of experience. My hope is that this album will include many acknowledgements of different genders, different relationship structures, and also just some great love songs written by queer people, for queer people. I hope it encourages more trans and non-binary folks to explore love songs. In truth, every love song I write is a queer love song, and in my opinion, that makes it a politically driven song too.”

Born and raised on Robinson-Huron Treaty territory in Northern Ontario, Canada, G.R. Gritt's music reflects their Indigenous roots as well as their Two-Spirit and Queer experience, intertwining personal narratives with social and political commentary.
