Hooverphonic releases "Vinegar & Salt - Live with Strings"

Next month marks the 25th anniversary of Hooverphonic’s release of The Magnificent Tree. To celebrate, a unique live edition of the album will be released in September, featuring all tracks performed live with strings. The Belgian band — celebrating their 30th anniversary this year — will also play two special anniversary concerts in Brussels' Ancienne Belgique that same month.

The Magnificent Tree — Hooverphonic’s third studio album, with Geike Arnaert at the helm as lead vocalist — was undeniably a milestone in their career, significantly accelerating their international breakthrough.

Without question, The Magnificent Tree is Hooverphonic’s magnum opus. To this day, it remains a timeless classic that embodies the band’s signature sound: pure pop deeply infused with trip hop and orchestral elements. Not surprisingly, the album stayed in the Ultratop album charts for more than two years (!). With over 340,000 physical copies sold — and an additional 165 million streams — it ranks among the most successful Belgian albums of all time. No fewer than four successful singles emerged from the record: Mad About You, Vinegar & Salt, Out of Sight, and Jackie Cane.

That’s why Hooverphonic is celebrating both their 30th anniversary and the 25th birthday of The Magnificent Tree with a special live reissue, recorded in Istanbul during their international tour. The Magnificent Tree - Live With Strings will be released on Friday, September 26, and the band will treat fans to two Rewind concerts at the Ancienne Belgique on Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27, where they will perform the album in full.

Hooverphonic was founded in 1995. A year later, they released their debut album A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular. That was followed by Blue Wonder Power Milk (1998), and in 2000, the landmark album The Magnificent Tree, featuring one of their biggest hits, Mad About You. The record marked the band's international breakthrough. Since then, Hooverphonic has released twelve more albums.
