I’m Not a Blonde Release New Single "SCEGLI ME", From Forthcoming Album "11 (THE ART OF BEING A COUPLE)"

Italian-American electropop duo I’m Not a Blonde return today with “Scegli Me” featuring Rachele Bastreghi - the third single taken from their new album 11 (The Art of Being a Couple), set for release on May 15th. The track explores the evolution of a relationship that begins like a spell, only to shift as reality sets in and emotions grow more complex.

“The song reflects on the early days of effortless connection and shared light, before moving into a more fragile present - where doubts, insecurities, and imperfections come to the surface. At its heart lies a powerful question: would you still choose me if you truly saw who I am?” – the duo explains.

It’s a song about the fear of losing the other person, about the feeling of not being enough when the illusions and images that once sustained the relationship begin to fall away.

Blending two voices and two languages - Chiara in English and Rachele in Italian – “Scegli Me” unfolds as an intimate inner dialogue of memories, fears, and desires, moving between past and present. Already introduced in the previous single “Hip Hop In The Fog,” the interplay between Italian and English becomes a key expressive element, reinforcing a sense of emotional instability and reflecting the shifting dynamics of a relationship. This stylistic approach runs throughout the album, tracing the nuances and contradictions of a relationship in evolution.

11 (The Art of Being a Couple) is a work that intertwines Chiara and Camilla’s personal and artistic journey, where love and creativity reflect and evolve together. Across the album, the tracks become fragments of a relationship in motion - from falling in love to crisis, and ultimately rediscovery. Each song acts as both a mirror and a milestone along this path.

Musically, “Scegli Me” features a minimal arrangement, built around evolving arpeggios and relentless rhythms that seem to leave almost no room to breathe. In contrast, the melody is expansive and leaves a sense of calm, gently emphasising the melancholy and vulnerability conveyed in the lyrics.

Rachele Bastreghi - singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist - is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in the Italian pop-rock scene. As a member of the acclaimed band Baustelle, as well as a solo artist, she has built a reputation through numerous releases, performances, and collaborations across the Italian music landscape.

ABOUT I’M NOT A BLONDE

I’m Not a Blonde is an Italian-American duo based in Milan, consisting of Chiara Castello and Camilla Benedini. Their elegant electropop - featuring ’80s-style synths and beats, ’90s Brit-wave guitars, and sharp pop melodies - strikes a perfect balance between the two personalities: irony and madness, fun and seriousness, minimalism and artpop, digital and analogue. All of this is wrapped in a veil of melancholy that gives their music a distinct identity and unmistakable style.

Over the years, they have performed at various Italian and international festivals, sharing the stage with artists such as Duran Duran, Moderat, Soulwax, Peaches, Ghostpoet, Hurts, and many more.

Live, their sonic architecture - layered loops of vocals, guitars, synths, and electronic beats - fills the stage with the power and impact of a full band.

Their style has captivated world-renowned artists, who have chosen I’m Not a Blonde as their opening act in Italy: Franz Ferdinand in 2018 at Bologna’s Unipol Arena, The Killers at Rock in Roma (2018), Wolf Alice for their sole Italian date in 2018, and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park in 2019 in Milan and Padua.
