Kynsy returns with skewed indie-rock of 'eleanor'

Dublin-born, London-based songwriter and producer Kynsy (aka Ciara Lindsey) today returns with new single 'eleanor', as she prepares the follow-up to her 2024 EP, 'Utopia'.

With its jagged textures and brooding atmosphere, 'eleanor' brings Kynsy’s skewed indie-rock into sharp focus, matching adventurous production with an immediate pop sensibility.

Speaking about the track, Kynsy said:

"'eleanor' is about being enthralled by someone from afar, knowing they’ll only hurt you. It’s a dark, poetic take on teenage infatuation and unrequited love, wrapped in a romantic, reckless, early-2000s Skins atmosphere."

Kynsy co-produced 'eleanor' with drummer Rory Gilmore (producer/DJ Body Clinic) and guitarist Tyler Darrington (producer/songwriter T. Evann), both collaborators from her live band.

"Sonically, it draws on the restless energy of Sorry’s debut album, giving the track a slightly fractured edge beneath its romantic core," Kynsy explains.

"I’ve always wanted to push further into glitchy, left-field production, while the juxtaposition of electronic and rock elements has always been central to the Kynsy sound. This song came out of the frustration of trying to find and fund an external producer for this next batch of songs, which ultimately led to the obvious decision to produce it with my band."

With three EPs and support from NME, DIY, Dork, BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music behind her, Kynsy returns with an assured statement of her ambitions as both a songwriter and producer.

Kynsy's new single 'eleanor' is out now.
